  2. This 1946 GMC came down from Maine with a couple bikes to run at the May Maxton Mile LSR event. Pretty neat workhorse.

What a great thread! Whenever I'm brousing the HAMB my four year old asks me to show him the cool trucks in the COE thread. We both love em and hope to pick one up some day to tug around our concrete pump.

Anyone know the best factory style tilt steering column and steering box combination to to use in a 50 GMC COE? Im using a 76 Chev 1 Ton truck frame as the platform. I was thinking something from a van or Step Van?

    Thanks...

Are you using any solder around the right side of the headlight bucket, or is it
    all TIG?

(Suggest you post pics under the "Let's See Some Metalshaping" thread for
    better "exposure". Nice Work!!)

36 Rokit the panel is just sitting on top of the buck in that picture I will cut out every thing underneath. Tig in & metal finish I posted some early build pictures in it's own thread but nobody seamed interested in the progress so I just dropped it Danny.

Ethanol Express was here for the truck pull at the county fair last year. He drive it with a joystick. That thing is sure a beauty. To bad he built a pulling truck out of it.

  21. Hey quadracerx the stering set up from a mid 80s van works best as the steering box is mounted near vertical. I am quite sure that this system is easily adapted to your 70s chev chassis. Hope this helps ! Grant www.schwartzwelding.com

I'd use an early tilt column from a late 60's GM product. They are much smaller then the later units, have no ign key mtd on them, and make for a much cleaner install. I plan on using the original column in mine. I was able to in my last Chevy COE by using a couple of u-jts. I really like the looks of the early Olds wheel I have in my truck, and the stock wheel/ angle works well for the layout of the cab. Hope this helps.

Todays up date on the 41 COE front fender I pretty much finised welding the head lite pods then ground the weld's inside & out. Next I did quite a bit of hammer, dollie, slap work then did some finish work with the shrink disc. next area is the front lower chins into the reworked wheel arches what do you think Danny.

Without seeing the Grille it's hard to tell a 39 from a 47, so it's somewhere in there.
