I finally made some progress on my AMT 32 roadster kit, well not really an amt roadster kit, but it sure felt like it, i posted a couple of updates on it while back but havnt made much progress till now, here are the past posts http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=320562 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=312924 basically from the last time ive gotton the doors hinges fit, gapped (ok) the door, welded in the drip rails, got the cowl corners blended with the door ok, A pillar braces in. i still have the b pillar braces to install and get the trunk lid hinges installed too, and the trunk lid latch panel put in to, so all in all its pretty close. my sisters boyfriend said hed come over and help me rough in the body work and get it in primer, so hopefully ill get her in primer for Back to the fifties in a few weeks. jeff
i have a couple ideas for the final look of it but im not sure, it may include a toneau cover full hood and no windshield but im not sure yet jeff
Jeff, take a look at the little racing style windscreen on Roy Richter's '34 Ford "Bell Auto Parts Special". I think it really looks cool and looks all "race car". I'd like to see that on a Deuce roadster and yours would be perfect for it. It would take some work to fab the post/frame but I don't think it would be too hard using all flat stock in either TIG welded (show the welds) aluminum or steel that could be chromed. What do you think? <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From Drop Box</td></tr></table>
heres a few more pics of it outside, i got all the trunk latch area panels installed, door latches and door handles installed, finished up some metal work on the cowl band, some metal work where the doors meet the cowl, and the bottom of the b pillars and the trunk lid opening braces installed, just a few more things to do, mainly finish the floor pans. oh, and i painted the wheels black and stuck a hood on it. jeff
thanks, the hood fits like*****, its gonna be alot of work to make it work, so well see if it makes the final cut, im gonna try though. seems like the walker rad i got it a bit too tall or the bodys a hair short. JEFF
Much progress has been made and its appears to be on the down hill side now. It will be interesting to see the final results
damn jeff, that kicks****. I cant wait to see it over the 50's... this is the first ive known of this, man am i behind.
I love the idea of going with the race look. With the tonnau I'd think about something like this for the windshield. sorry, thats the best pic I could find of it.
heres another pic in primer, now a bit more sanding and well give it another coat, red oxide this time jeff
