Yeah man, that is it. Mine was a little lower and the skirts went all the way to the back, but the look is the same. I drove that car from coast to coast when I was 16 tears old. Needless to say, i cause my mother a lot of grief. Bill Hines was in Michigan then and he heated the front springs on mine to lower it. That little guy could disappear under a car and then you saw a cigar come out and he would slide out. Job done. I had a convertor in the trunk, the size of a suitcase, to supply 110 current to run a 45 record player on the driveshaft hump. I played "Hounddog and Chuck Berry and chased the girls. I even caught a few.
hotrod1940 ---I live in Kalamazoo, also had 45 record player mine was built in the glove box .I would tape a nickel and 3 pennies to the needle arm to keep it in the groove when I hit a bump. TwoChops
TC, that's an easy one. I just finished scanning a thousand slides. Bought a Canon Canoscan 5600F. Will scan 4 slides a once. At the highest resolution (which you will probably want to use) it's about 5 min per slide so about 20 minutes for a load of 4 slides. I just sit down at the computer with a book or a bunch of magazines and go at it. (I found that if I stay off the web while I'm scanning it goes faster.) These scanners are inexpensive (around $150) and they work well. Don't buy the really cheap ones that are under $100 new.
Cmon now... I like Dave Auten and think his cars have a place in custom history as they are true customs and are some of the only tech cars that actually still fit in the catergory but they dont belong on this thread....but this 53 Ford does, especially after being striped by Al Battista!
burnsjf, that 36 ford has a fierce chop to it,i love it ,it needs to be bought down to terra firma but the flow of that car is great
No it was Al Battista who owned a killer 50 unchopped merc by the Bernardo bros.Al handled alot of striping and art work for the famous Conn shop. Luke is absolutely correct about the year of the car.
just to let you guys know, randy rhoades (builder of grapevine clone) just joined the HAMB! screen name is RDR
Ant,the pic you posted of Al striping the 58 Chevy, don't know if you know or not,but that was Dad's 58.Let me guess,Ray sent you that pic.
A little prejudiced but since your looking for pics I posted these from Mary Ellens site. These are an overview of the customization of the Overman Lincoln by Valley Customs between 1953 and 1957.
Larry, What are the headlight rings on the last version of Ina Mae? I saw a similar set on another Lincoln at Santa Maria, and they're familiar, but I can't place them. Any new progress on your Buick?
Jarzen wins !!!!!! I goofed before when commenting on these headlites. Heres the receipt to confirm what they are. They were also used on the second version of the Ron Dunn 50 Ford. Tony , the Buicks movin slowly. Here's the link to last efforts. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=347095 I got the headlites done but have been side tracked finding the next customer to keep the guys busy. Finally got the Facel running like it should.
Looks like Lauralee Dobbels 57 Chev done by Bob McNulty. Has a tube grille in stead of the vette and different paint. MIck
Hey, Two Chops, Do you have any pics of the Clarkaiser 53 Vic known as "Queen of the Vics" in the Dec 1956 Car Craft? I've owned this for 10 yrs but haven't been able to find any pics of the interior or engine. I have been following this thread from the first hopeing for some new(old?) pics that haven't been seen before. Great to see these old pics. Keep it up. Rick
So help me god if this keeps up Ill be posting 5 ol Jersey kustoms that between them have about 16 headlights.
