Custom Packard Clipper Pics

I have a chance to buy a 53 Packard Clipper for what seems like a good price and was wondering if anyone had any pics of one done. Thanks in advance!!

i think thats a 55 but still a very cool car. the nose is different on the 53 and thats the part im not crazy about

 

I'll tell you right now that there are almost none. Most Packard's are owned by people that take Packards very seriously and will never customize them. I have a 56' and the only really Packard customized I've seen is attached. John D'Agostino's 56 built by OZ customs in Cali. A mild custom pack HAMB member's at this link.

I have tallked to a bunch of guys doing engine mods but no body mods. Most people just cut the tail lights off of 56's like mine and leave the rest of the car for junk.
Mine will be a mild custom though.

I say go for it. I've always liked the lines of the cars you're talking about, and changing the grill and surrounding sheetmetal wouldn't be any harder on a Packard than on any other car of that era. I'd build one if I found one I could afford.
Do a google search for "Packard Caribbean" - they were factory built show cars and they're basically kustoms.

 

I built a 52 or 53 fordor for a guy out of Philly, who later moved to Florida. Les Miller was his name. I started out doing it as a nice looking mild custom, Burgundy pearl, pinkish color scallops, just lowered, smoothed, and WWW with caddy caps. Nice!
Later, he got bitten by a "bug" and had it subframed, and tubbed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brought it back, to have it converted to a 2 door, though he didnt' want to change the doors. Then decided to chop it, but saw Billy Gibbons Copperhead, and decided to do it as a business coupe style body (shortened roof). Did all that, against my better judgement, did some other crazy stuff to it, put in a Bill Mitchell racing engine, and then he saw Rick Dore's Caddy. So he wanted it painted a sunshine yellow pearl, light on top fading to a deeper yellow/orange on bottom.
Then put Razberry Candy flames on it. Yuck!
Yeah, it looked like a circus car. I can post pics of it later, if you like, I'll have to look for them (I think I hid them away to prevent embarr***ment!)
Anyway, it'll show you what NOT to do to a Packard!

Anyone in Fl. know what happened to it?

That's about as custom as i have ever seen, of course packards get the tailights and chrome robbed from them quite often so maybe you should rob some chevy and Ford stuff for your packard custom

My friend Miikka's ´55 Packard. This was one of the very first Finnish kustom cars, a**** many others here, this car was built from four door sedan.

The guy is advertising it as a Packard concept car, not a customized 4 door.

 

I vote yes because Packards just scream Kustom, lot of kool body lines. You don't
have to do much, Lower it, clean up the decks and remove some chrome. Very kool
ride.

Yeah...I'd say you were off the hook, but you already spilled the truth. Your story is a lot more believeable than the current owner's tale:

Custom Packard in a different way. The owner Carl Schneider also has a two seater retractable hardtop Packard and a woody wagon they were featured in Collectible Automobile

Beautiful cars indeed. I plan to stick the *** end of a '54 on my '53. I think my favorite part about these cars is that the handles are hidden on the window trim, so there's no need to shave 'em for that smooth look. Very innovative. Ask the man who owns one!

 

Here is our 41, just put a corvett clip so we can lower it when we want to, well it also has a 350 ZZ4 700r4 and 10 bolt transam, air and full power, Love it but understand that not all do
