Why do you go to shows & cruise in's?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Kewl Bus, Jun 7, 2009.

  1. I did a search and didn't see any thing on this. But Why do you go to shows and cruise in's?

I don't, I simply cruise in my ride every day. I have no need to go to shows, or get a little plastic trophy to help stroke my ego.

I don't go to them either. Yesterday was the "biggie" for Route66 here...... stayed home and did yard work. Sitting in a lawn chair at the Court House with that stupid music just seems like a COMPLETE waste of time to me.

  6. I go to maybe three shows a year - the local Mopar club show, the Rt 66 Weekend, and one of the local drive-in cruises. I've had my fill of shows and all the crap that accompanies them back in the '80s and '90s, along with the cheapo (and not so cheapo) trophies that generally go along. Ain't worth the asspain, gas money, or time to do them these days.

I drive mine to enjoy myself and spend some time on the road, enjoying a sunny day and going down a road or two that I may not go down on the normal weekday. Shows are a waste of time, especially participant-judged shows. I don't pay to get into a show AND judge cars. The bullshit flag gets raised right there!

I dont go to big shows. but the only reason I ever go to any of them is to meet people. I can look at pictures of cars if I want to see cars. I go there to be social and make new friends.

I build my cars for myself but its nice when other people say they are nice, cool, awesome, hot or anything really.

That and Kettle Corn is awesome!!!

  8. To criticize.

Actually, Billetproof Florida was my first "car show" since I burned out on Cruisin' the Coast about 5 years ago.

    i like cars period.

i like to look at cars/trucks/vehicles. meet people, talk to people, meet up with friends or just go alone, drive in or walk in........... from 1899-2009 any year vehicle is good to look at 'IF' it has a 'GOOD' look or has some nice engineering.
if i see a guy sittin by his 69 Z/28 thinkin hes hot shit with teddy bears & shit around the car & the car has perfect gaps & perfect paint everything looks 100% i know someone really worked their ass off & i respect it & like to look at it!

if you like cars why wouldnt you go?

stopped doing shows years ago, tired of paying someone to tell me whats wrong with my car. only do 1 cruise night, its the largest in the area. no judging, just enjoying the evening with other hotrodders.

To meet and hang out with like minded people.

  12. It's a social thing with me,,to get together with other folks that enjoy cars,,and a chance to see what other people are up to at shows,,

    As for cruise in's,,,

I don't hang out in bars,,I don't run around on my wife and I really don't care much for television, so I guess it's just a good excuse for spending a nice summer evening out with my wife and friends and not at home with you guys here on the hamb like I do most nights!:D HRP

I don't go to CAR SHOW's.... I have never gotten into having my car judged..... I do go up to a couple of local cruise nights to see some of the Guys I know and hang out and have fun with them.... I went to the Rust Revival which was a HAMB friendly event and had a great time...

Car Shows (the ones you pay to be in) I only do the ones that benefit a charity, and then I only do those if friends are goin'.

Cruises tend to be more like social gatherings and that's what I like. I don't care about trophies, I like my car! If you like my car too, cool! If you don't, that's cool too!

I go mostly to spend alittle time with people that share the interest in the hobby and to look at the cars that are still being built or cars that the owner has built. Yeah, they can be a waste of time so I don't like to sit there all day. I hang out awhile then hit the road and just take a ride

  21. so you can get your hot rod fix and meet new people and learn things or atleast that's my reason

I go to just about every car show, cruise in , or swap meet I can get to. my old cars are in various states of disrepair/unfinishedness. my driver is 33 years old and who knows how many miles.. if it were a bit fresher I'd go to more.

I go for ... duh... CARS. I usually just spectate even when I have an old car on the road. except local cruise nights.

I go to take pictures. I'd like it better if all the people left while I was there... 'cept the beer guy.

when I take a car in a show it is for one reason only.. a place for my cooler.
