I have a garage but its full of hot rod project right now and its pretty cramped in there.

Never the less I've been building on the driveway or out side in some fashion for a very long time. Does it bother me. Well I do live in the mid-west and sometimes between the weather and the code nazis it can be a real drag. But that's the life I choose to live. I wouldn't trade places with non of you fellas.

I'm in the market for a house again, been renting a shit-tastic old falling-in farmhouse with an okay 1.5 car garage on one end. It's cheap, that's all I'll say.

One option I been thinking about is buying a couple acres to build a shop on, like a 40x80 metal building, then fix me up a little studio apartment inside until I can scrape enough change together to build a small house.

I got a Model T garage that I use as a storage shed, because thats about all I can do with it. I have 5 cars and I HATE not having a garage, it really limits me to what I can and cant do. Top it off, I have a HUGE backyard, but since I live in a historic district I would have a hell of a time to build a new bigger garage, even if I made it look like the Model T garage aesthetically.

Ive been lucky enough to have a garage of some sort since I was 15, might not always be close by but its there. Its HUGE but has lots of stuff in it and is dirt floor and no door, pea gravel pad with carpet over it on one side for rollin around under stuff.:D Had one 1 1/2 car with concret and a door at my rental 2 years ago, now I'm back to my old faithful that my grandma and grandpa built back in the 60's. For some odd reason though, my 63 F100 still resides in the driveway.

Went to look at a place already built the other week. 30x35 shop area and the office space (that could be turned into an apartment) was 14x20. Asking price 52K. I wasn't too stoked on it because one, it was just about in some other dude's front yard, and I would've had to dig up the slab to rework the plumbing.

Might just be easier to start from scratch. Where I'm at you can build pretty much whatever you want, no building codes outside city limits.
