Hot Rods L.A. Roadsters now welcoming Suede & Traditional cars ?!?!?!?!?

Your height may have you carefully maneuvering into a roadster much like my fat does for me. You should see the dance I have to do to get in and out of the Hussy. It's like watching that insulation stuff they use on houses ooze out of the cracks. Disgusting.

 

Ahhh, I thought it was an application of sorts.

I actually like the idea of a invitation and the fact that The LA Roadster have a pretty thin margin of criteria. There are a great deal of clubs sort of going out of whack but at least the LA Roadsters are carrying on tradition as they have. It just ****s that Isky was denied huh?

I can't claim know anything about the Show because I live on the wrong side of the country. I can only state what I heard so just disregard anything that I say pretty much.

 

I have gone only once, back in 2006. I must agree, it was the greatest weekend I have ever had. You will see anything you ever wanted to there.

 

So now Trophys and Judged shows are not traditional? I guess the guy in this pick just does not get it...guess what he was a "gold chainer"!!!! Somebody tell Bob to hide his trophys!!!!

I look forward to the LA roadster show ever year it the high light of the summer!

I think they are softening up on the rules. Over the last few years there have been cars done flat with satin clear and some upolstered in bead rolled aluminum. I'd say 50% of the cars in the show are plastic with their oldest parts being from the 80's anyway. The cars in the swap/ non finished car show area are usually metal and pretty fun to look at. No matter where you park there is lots to look at. It's a really good show. Go if can, those LA roadster members are getting old and I don't see much young blood flowing in.

 

I am sure the suede/traditional area, in the specialty parking, is on Sunday only. You can call Bob Barnes at Vernes Chrome with any questions. 323-754-4126 or look for him in his usual spot in the first row at the Long Beach Swapmeet this Sunday.

 

I believe that the point of this thread is that traditional and non-painted vehicles are being acknowledged. I think its pretty cool that you're getting is a dash plaque to prove that you were there... now they need to start working on a mug...

 

There are no trophy's or judging at the LA Roadster Show, never have been as far as I can remember. Not jumping on any bandwagon, and after what is it 50 years now, I don't think this one is going to die off either.

 

And you know there are plenty of "Traditional" cars in the main show as well - they are just the ones that are shiny and actually finished

 

Well- you obviously havent been to the LA Roadster show before.
No judging, no awards, no dash plaques. Shiny finished roadsters inside, everything else outside in Specialty Parking (which is a whole show in itself). Yea- there are street rods & some gold chainers there- but there's also some very cool cars there too. Several years ago- we pulled in & parked & wound up right behind Lil John ****era's car. Last year on Sunday- we were surrounded by many AMBR cars all around us. How ****in' cool is that?

It's roadster overload & more roadsters than you've ever seen in one location!

We have a LA Roadster member in our club.
The traditional gathering is Sunday. As far as he knows- there are no formal Saturday plans. There will also be a small field of a dozen FED's & for the 1st time at this show, they will fire them up. Cacklefest baby!
There's a special display of 33-34 cars celebrating the 75th anniversary & Steve Frisbee is suppose to pick 10 cars for some kind of acknoledgement, Thom Taylor will be there, they have pinstripers too- all donations go to charity & the topper?
If you didn't get enough of the Fonz at GNRS- he will be at LARS.

Without me reading all the posts....will someone tell me if "these" cars are getting a designated area? Where would that area be?

 

Yes- in Specialty Parking & on Sunday. Saturday, you are on your own- unless they change the gameplan in the next 1 1/2 weeks.
They are suppose to caution tape off an area for traditional cars that won't be inside.

 

That's OK with me. I'm happy parking next to the swap meet area, year after year. I was just curious. To me, that whole section next to the swap is basically already for the cars in question
PS-Sunday's usually a bit weak. So I'm sure everyone will get one of the 400 dash plaques.

 

The dash plaques are a 1st.

I'll have to burn my headlight sticker after Sunday to avoid the HAMB wrath on Monday though.

There's a club called the Roadsters Twin Cities here in Minnesota. They only allow 25 members (I think). I bet more than 1/2 the members drive/own fender Converts. The club has been around since the 60's. when it was all T's, A's and 32's. What's great though is there's 2 of their founding fathers that are still members. They are close to 70, and still driving Deuce roadsters! One is a highboy with a blown small block, and has been driven to the LA show a couple times!

 

It's 36 & earlier for the LA Roadsters car club. There are currently 29 active members. Not an EZ club to join. The white pants, red shirt & weekly meetings would be a deal killer for me.

 

IMO that's disrespectful, sometimes ya gotta bend a bit.

 

LA roadster, show is the ****! no matter were you park...
I cant wait! but I love being in the swap meet section.(closer to all the good stuff)
