This Dodge Dart was run as Don Garlits Funny Dart [ or something like that ] back at the time funny cars were first starting to haul ass . Lots of strange things were showing up at the drag strip, and this one was as strange as any of them ! I don't know if Garlits actually built, drove , or had any thing to do with it other than putting one of his motors in it, but it did run as' Don Garlits funny dart[ or whatever] for a while.

The tip-off for me was the doors, which are clearly Fiat. I never even knew Fiat made a delivery, and your body looks outstanding.

I saw that on another thread a while back. Man, I think about it at least once a week. Love to turn it into a salt car.

or where did it go to???:D Ron....

  16. Sold it, don't remember where it went. It was picked up by a friend of the new owner. I never heard back from him. I thought I might as it was a very rough shell.

The white Willys with Magnesium wheels really is incredible. Can you even imagine stumbling onto something like that for sale for cheap and trying your hardest to keep your cool. I'd be freakin'! Shaking hands, pupils dilated, stuttering!!!! I'd have to take a friend to do the negotiating.

Brought this out to California after it was found rotting away in Ohio...

Got it restored this far before I lost interest.

It's in Maryland or New Hampshire at a good home that will do the restoration right.

I've looked but can't find the picture of a tow-type truck in a junkyard with a FED as the boom! I remember a pully hanging off the front axle crossmember with a cable running thru it to lift things with. The FED pointed near straight up and the drivers' bucket was located in the bed of the truck! Anybody else remember that one?

  28. Oh man, this thread damn near brings tears to my eyes. To those who have found and saved our history,THANK YOU! My former avatar(Bud Faubel's 64 Dodge 440 HT) was found abandoned by the guy I bought it from;I still feel like a shit for losing(selling) it myself.

I remember seeing the black Gremlin when I lived in the Detroit area back in '74-5;only saw it a couple of times, but wow, what a memory.
