Convert it to a Pertronix! Thats what I do with them...

  3. Check the advance on the distributor, mine was marked 22degrees. That multiplied by 2 as it works at half speed, plus the static gave between 48 and 50 degrees... Ouch. The bob weight advance seems to be 13 degrees the advance from the sprung portion of the dizzy is 9 degrees (or at least it was on mine) this coming on when there was enough engine vacuum to lift the little felt ended plunger that drags to overcome these springs most of the time.
Locking this part of the advance mechanism gave me just the bob weights 2x13 degrees = 26 degrees plus the static total of 6 at the crank gives 32 degrees, not far off on modern fuel. Hope this helps

Wow thanks for the info! Another problem i'm having is the rotor seems to be hitting the distributor cap. Maybe I have wrong part numbers?

All those Distributors used the same Cap and Rotor, pretty hard to get the wrong part.

I might be wrong but I saw different part numbers for rotors in the parts manual that a HAMBER posted here a couple days ago. If you do a search for magspark it comes up. That's how I found it.

Here's the pics of the distributor. The rotor is hitting the metal on the cap. So it gets caught in between each terminal, not allowing it to spin. Thanks for the help.
