Its great he has kept them but seems like a shame to let them sit out side in the weather. it would be neat to see some of those old drag cars back up and going.

Is this photo from the sequel (or prequel) to the story about the '55 Chevy g***er racing the cable car from the recent issue of GARAGE magazine?

    I don't know, I've never seen a Garage Magazine.
That's Jim McLennan, founder of Champion Speed Shop, many years ago in a promotional photo for a catalog.

Seeing Dyno Don's Kendig Maverick made me think to post a picture of my Comet. A drag car though not in motion at the moment. Sure wish I had an old picture of it back in the day.

Man, I am g***ed. I don't know how many months I've been chasing this thread for an hour here, an hour there. What a magnificent pictorial coverage of the sport. My hat's off to all of the contributors that have gotten this thread to page 635.

I was surprised to not see any photos of a modified roadster driven by Paul Stage. Can anybody help out on this?

    Here's to 635 more!

Man I'd love to have that Kansas Twister 57 Chevy. wouldn't touch a thing except for updating safety stuff and putting a good motor & trans in it and then race the **** out of it. there all bad *** cars but that 57 is the baddest of the bunch.

I haven't heard that name since I was a kid. I saw a photo in a magazine back then, but it wasn't a modified roadster he was driving. It was an A/Comp dragster, I think, or was it B/Comp?

It had a 23T body on it at the 69 US Nationals and that's the only way I remember seeing it in magazines over time. There's a video on youtube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDQ9bHvFy30, right around the 4:20 mark in the video. Always remember it being a beautiful car. Stage is up against Ohio George in the semis.

It was AA/Comp; basically a state of the art top gas dragster that had a T model shell mounted on it. He beat Dyno Don Nicholson at 68 Indy I think. Super Eliminator finals wherein he spotted the blown Cougar a few tenths and still caught him on the top end
