I posted this question as a response to another thread but I don't think the local LA people were reading that one. Anyway, I have a Ford 2100 carburetor on my '59 Edsel and need to have it redone. Does anyone know of a reputable shop in the LA area. Thanks

I don't know anything about that carb, but why not rebuild it yourself?

Tried that, but it still isn't running right. So I decided just to try a rebuild shop.

I don't know what part of LA you are in, but one big name shop is SMI in Huntington beach:

    Sean Murphy Induction
    17671 Metzler Lane unit A-7
    Huntington Beach, CA 92647
    Phone: 714.843.9169
    Fax: 714.843.9165

I bought a kit from them but never had a carb rebuit by them.

That being said, you might look in the yellow pages for a shop closer to you that will most likely be cheaper too.

P.S. Another shop in LA is:

    Automotive Carburetor Exchange
    1467 South Westgate Ave.
    West Los Angeles CA 90025

I got a carb done near west adam's and La Brea, at a regular old carb shop called Washington Carburetors. The guy pulled the carb, rebuilt it and installed it for 75.00. It was a good rebuild. On a 59 Dodge poly with a two barrel. Should be a bit more for a 4 barrel.
I can get more info on this shop if your interested, just PM me.
There another shop I know of in Monclair called Mr Carburetor 8981 Rose Ave, Montclair, CA - (909) 625-3488
He converted a manual choke edelbrock and rebuilt it for about 125.00 a few years back.

I've had good luck at Carburatorland in Hawiian Gardens. Built a 4GC for $105, done in 2 hours.
