  1. Rob (R Seghi) is a true trooper. After years of dormancy, I got his 28 RPU running just last week. With ZERO "test' miles, he drove it to the Roadster Show in Pomona, and back to Simi Valley, an estimated 70 miles each way, all 3 days, one day at a time even in the rain. Pretty fucking cool!

I'm glad somebody with some connections finally got the Van Nuys Cruise night started again, I still can't believe how easily we got shut down in the first place. People just stopped coming and instead all we got were these stagnated, repetitive meets we laughingly refer to as Cruises where everyone sits around for hours doing nothing and half of them don't seem to know anything about their own car- ah, but I digress. Congrats to the person or people that got the ball rolling again. I missed last one, but I'll be out for the next one.

  5. I quit cruisin cause everytime I did I was gettin pulled over by the cops. Didn't get tickets, after the first few fix-it harassment crap, just the hassle and most the guys I hung with had stopped. I was an old man (20 sumthin) at the time and had a respectable job. It wasn't fun anymore.

I want the fun back! I'll stop to say hello, but I'm cruisin the blvd!

I was at the Father's Day car show in Oxnard yesterday and ran into Kevin and Steve (Rabbit) from www.livecarshows.com. These guys do some great video (DVD) of events around the Southland so our events can be immortalized forever. I have the DVD from the last day at LACR (very somber indeed), and from the Chevelle club laps at Irwindale a couple of years ago.

I told them about July 8th, and they want to come out and do some filming and interviewing on the boulevard. Be looking for 'em! I really hope they can make it, because it will also be streamed LIVE on their website so that others that are out of state or shut-ins that can't make it can still get jealous, er, I mean, enjoy it too!

    Hey Groucho,

Kent Bash here from Rod & Kulture Magazine. I'm planning an article about
cruisin' Van Nuys Boulevard yesterday & today. I was there Wednesday night, and both cruised & took some pixs, however, I'm open to collecting a few pixs by others who were there.

I noticed a night pix on your post on thread 19 of a 40 coupe that flicks my switch, any chance on letting me use it in my article?

Cruisin' Bob's VN & Van Nuys Blvd is etched into my genetic code since back in the 50s & 60s and has been the subject of both a painting or two & a T-shirt design some years back. A print of one of the paintings can be viewed in the
open edition section of my website at kentbash.com if you care to look. It was painted in 1978 and depicts the chaos of cruisin' the blvd. at that time.

I wonder if it would be worth bringing back the t-shirt design, which was not really created for a shirt, but rather just from a drawing that found it's way
    on to t-shirts.

This was a great night, not really any problems, a few small things but nothing to shut it down. But as you all know there is always some people who have to show off & do some stupid shit.
It has been over 30+ years since my car has seen Van Nuys Blvd. on a wednesday night. It was sort of a bitter sweet ride. I'll do it again & again & don't think I'll ever stop cruising. It helps us old tiumers which we are now stay young.

This guy has done a lot of neat art with L.A. as a backdrop. Check this link out, he immortalizes Bob's Big Boy and Tommies. If you scroll down, you can see where he will actually paint your ride into the picture.

Wonder if he would play ball on licensing his design for a T-shirt?

Thanks for the tip Alan, however, If I use some art in this article it will be original rather than some doctored up photos created in photoshop. I prefer art by those who actually can draw, paint, have a soul, and who's sole interests isn't simply to cash-in on car kulture.

Anyway, I do appreciate you trying to help, you're a hell of a guy.

    Thanks, Bash

I'm doing hand springs & back flips, something I only do when I'm feeling good, hows about you.

  26. No, I erase images from time to time, so it's easier to find others when the time comes. It makes me crazy when someone insists on showing me a picture on their camera, or worse, their phone, just to fumble through hundreds of useless images while I go mad waiting to see something I have no interest in anyway..........................................rant:D

Thanx, Elrobo. I cut and pasted and blasted it out to my homies in the 661. Also sent it to a few waywards in the 818 from my old skool, Hoover. It's PENNED in for July 8th. Can't wait for my buds from Live Car shows to get this immortalized on DVD for us to enjoy when we're 90 and can't drive anymore!

Also, I am trying to find a picture of the 1970 Chevelle I used to cruise the Blvd in back in 1977-1979. It was midnight blue with light blue pinstriping and had a black vinyl top. It belonged to a friend of my Mom's and he was cool he used to give me the keys to take the car and cruise with my friends! I have an old polaroid somewhere.
