The Drag Race scene is Freitas Road in Petaluma and it looks the same today except for a Golf Course on the West Bound Lane Side. The Roll over scene was on the East Bound Side.It took alot of takes to get the car to flip just right for that scene.
California Kid and Hot Rod would be cool Muttley!I'd like some stills of the black 65 Plymouth before it got balled up.
Now I got the music and dialog running thru my head. Thanks alot. God what a movie. Fantastic pictures. That movie is what sparked our Back to the 50's.
Wow, this is awsome screen saver material........... Thanks a heap! One of my 2 fav movies........ Hot Rod is another movie that would be nice to get pictures from...hint hint..... Leon
Hey Mutt thanx for putting these up. Love that pic with the Pharaohs and Curt leaning up against Gil Gonzalez ride..... "Whaddya doin creep?' Rat
How about some stills from the drag racing scenes in More American Graffiti? Just a suggestion. Great pix.
i went to that movie with my best friend at the time , walk in theater , driving a 1966 fastback stang , 289 built to the bejesus , im about 14-15 years old , 3 ice cold strohs beers before the flick , 1/2 stick of of some mexican dirt , felt like they were doing a bio of our time , left the theater , looked for some action , got some . what a night , im now 50 and i will never forget the night , the flick , the feeling of being sort of a rebel and thinking , can it get any better than this . life goes on , friends move , family grows , but im still 15 at times , feeling invincable , clinging to that euphoric feeing , hot rods are the best , whats going to happen to next generation that will never know the nights at a&w , micky d's , jerrys curb service , etc , i feel fortunate to have been through that period , maybe a living a little in the past , but i hope im passing a little on to the future of this pass time - way of life , call me a romantic , soooo what , rock on and have fun , great pics !!
from a young guy to you, first off im extremely jealous to not have been there. secondly thank you for the story! it may not be the same but i can look at aspects of my younger years and even some current and have the same feeling. although in my head i always play it back like its forty years prior anyways.
Interesting, I went to see it at the drive-in theatre in Alexandria MN with my girlfriend (now wife) in my '56 Nomad. The cars gone, the wifes still here and it's been many hot rods since. Thanks for sharing.
I remember going to see the movie when it came out. It was at the theater at the Southland mall in Hayward Ca. I was 15 or 16 at the time. I still wish I would have "borrowed" a Paradise Rd. street sign. My Dad lives in Turlock, and I go right by it on the way to his house. I remember the white 40 Ford. It use to drive around where I lived, and it was in the Oakland Roadster show a lot too. I'm sure it's still around, but I haven't seen it for 20 years or so. The Hemirod 39 Chevy is still around though. Dean
