Some T10s came with 2 bolt positions/ Some bellhousing also did. T10 also had 1 1/8 & 1 3/8 inch imput shafts. Top load and side load. Youu will also find shifters can be mounted in 2 positions. Be careful. UGOTPK

All GM T10s had the GM bolt pattern, different from Ford. It could be adapted to the Ford bellhousing with a little work. Chevy also had different gear ratios than Ford (plus the GM input shaft could be different also). Unless you want to try to adapt the GM T10 to a Ford your better off finding you a Ford toploader 4 speed (alot stronger, and alot easier to find than a Ford T10).

Buy it for $50. You can always use it for trading stock or to re-sell or......to just have it.

"Out of a running truck"......are you SURE it's a T10 or could it be a Saginaw ?? Of course, even a Saginaw for $50 is still a good deal.

FWIW, Ford used the T10 from '62-65.5 in two different versions of big block and small block input shaft and spline counts were different. Both Studebaker and AMC used the early Ford bolt pattern T10s, so they are kicking around out there also.

In fact, I've got an AMC T10 in great shape I'd part with for three bills. It would need the long input shaft shortened, but that is not difficult.

    thnx, jack vines

  12. yeah the guy pulled it out and put in a Saginaw..

  13. well i just talked to the guy again and it turns out it did come off a Ford.. a friend of his bought it****uming the same thing that i did (a T-10 is a T-10) and tried to make it work on his chevy.. no dice though..

what can i measure to make sure? I still have the 4speed truck******* i pulled off of my motor.. can i just measure the shaft length and spline count on that?

  14. well i got the casting numbers and a pic from the guy.. the******* looks in great shape

the numbers on it are T-10 1488 or 148B, can't tell.. any one know where i can find out about it.. i've searched all over the net and didn't come up with much..

There should be a little sheetmetal tag somewhere on the transmission, you need all the info off of that tag to find out what car the trans was put in.
