Well it's almost time for Speed Week in Bonneville...and Thanks to Bobby Green and Lucky Burton...Now I got a BAD CASE of DROP TANK DEMENTIA (A diesease also known as BellyTank BrainWash)!

Ever since I saw the "OLD CROW" on the Salt...I've felt the need to own one (Or at least the beginnings of one)!

Well given my Uncontrollable Obsessive Compulsive Nature, I also tend to go a little Overboard on my Quests!

That leads me to where I am today...loaded up, but Strangely Satisfied!

I do have a question for you though Bobby and Lucky...how do you cure this Maddening Diesease?

But Seriously, I do need a little Tech help from you guys: I know that the Yellow Ones are from either a P-47 or a P-51...and I know that the Aluminum ones are from a F-100 (because they say it on them)...but what is the last one off of?
    It's Steel...kinda small...and has (2) attachment pylons!

Any help would be Greatly Appreciated!

    Regards,
    Greg

One of the local county parks used to have a kiddy ride made out of tanks that looked a lot like those last ones. The had wings and a tail on them and hung from chains for kids to ride in a circle in. It's been over 50 years since I last saw them so they are probably long gone.

  4. I have one like the 3 there, its from an A-110 Super Sabre.

Not sure on the little one, I'd make it into a go cart..

    How long is it?

I'm curious about the yellow ones. I've been looking at 3 with those style plugs in the tail end. I would guess they are about 8 or 9 ft long. They are the same cl***ic shape of those, but they looked too small for a belly tanker. Were the P-51 and P-47 tanks usable on a some belly tankers? Were they the only tanks that looked like these? Any pics of one?

My understanding is that the P-47 and P-51 style were used initally...but because of their size...they could only accomadate small engines like a 4 cylindar or V-8 60 HP! That's part of the reason why the larger P-38 Style soon became the Tank of Choice! I'm sure Bobby or Lucky will post on here soon enough to clarify the history!

Here's a few more photos of them!

    Enjoy!

    Well Lucky...Look what you started!

  11. The small steel one looks alot like the Navy ones used on Grumman Wildcats in shape anyway, though from memory they were a single pilon attachment?
