DemOldDodgesGoEverywhere, even the board tracks. I'm liking the haulers as much as the racercars.

  12. There's a nicely restored '27 Dodge chassis on Espay right now, if anyone's interested...

[IMG]That #1 Car is the Disteel sponsored Duesenberg Ira Vail drove at INDY in 1922, he finished in 8th place. May be the first car to run solid steel wheels, not the spun disks used on wire wheels.

I think this is the only surviving Franklin. This is a 1911.
I'd like to find out more on this racer.

Kurtis, '37 kid can tell you more about it. It was at Hershey a few years ago. The second picture may have been taken there.

The only bit of info i found so far-

1911 Model D Franklin. Raced by Ralph Hamlin in the LA to Phoenix finishing 2nd. In 1913 it came to Oklahoma and then it states 'thats it'.
What i'm trying to find out is has it just been found or stashed away since '13, or any other history that it might have. Who built it, etc, etc..

Yeah, for some reason board track film seems to be pretty rare, I'm sure there's plenty archived out there but just hasn't surfaced yet.

Wow, watching that video gives an idea of how wicked fast they were going then, and a sense of scale of these tracks. It's amazing that wood was the material of choice during those times. Really if you didn't see it , it's hard to get a grasp of the magnatude. Thanks.

You would have found it, or it would have found you. To put things into perspective, I compare how many people I've met and have become friends with from the forums I frequent. Without a doubt the HAMB takes the cake!!

  28. Amen to that!!!
