Just got done doing this for my pal Tubbs. The car was chopped but the back glass wasn't done. It's a 1950 Ford 2 door sedan piece flipped upside down. The final welding hasn't been completed, waiting on panel clamps. Hope you like it.

    That makes my naughty tingle!

I'm guessin you pull the backlite, prior to the time grinding and muddin begins?

  3. I would of rather seen it right side up, but whatever floats it.

Yeah maybe kinda, the way the roof was cut from the car was done with very little metal left on the bottom side, not by me, and I had it sitting in my yard for years, we just kinda used what we had........you know, free. I tried fitting it right side up and it wasn't happening, not enough metal.
Hopefully it'll look cool when finished, the car's in super good condition, except for the butchered, sectioned and bondoed to hell trunk lid, the idea was good, the execution not so much.

Here's Tubbs cutting away, you can see how the roof was left unfinished. Tubbs thinks this was a Road Zombies car.

The final welding is killing me, tedious and in the 98 degree heat makes it really difficult. Oh and my breaker kept tripping.

I need a damn garage man.

I don't, I wanna be inside, in AC, or even shade, that would be nice, without mosquitos biting our asses.

Nads, cool car! Window looks neat upside down, kinda looks like something GM would do on their Motorama cars. Who did the fins? And I'll take a D&G, assuming I really do get the greatest service and satisfaction available. And you know what that means.

It looks pretty good in there upside down. The window shape flows well with the roof line.

  19. Gotta say, I was a bit skeptical, when we initially had the two pieces together. Shame to waste a hardtop roof profile, but in the end it is amazing how the contours flow. Nads, you are one helluva visionary. Mr Tubbs is so happy too. Car is really coming together nicley. Only one like it in O-Town. I have been having fun sorting out some of the mechanical bullshit. Tell me, who runs a rubber fuel hose right over a bagged rear axle??

I tell you who runs it the same folks who chop a car and don't finish it. I'm real stoked on the way things are coming out and so fortunate to have nads and jt to show me the right way of doing things. Thanks guys

Serendipity: The faculty of happening upon fortunate discoveries when not in search of them. Serendipitous ... adjective.

The rear glass area needing to be installed bottom-side-up was a serendipitous event. Even unfinished, it looks great! I know it's a beauty-in-the eye-of-the-beholder thing, but I think it looks remarkably better than if it was the opposite. Can't wait to see more.

When you're finished with those serendipity angels, send them to my place. When I try something different, it looks .... well, just dipity. :)

Looks like it rolled out the factory door that way. Thats usually a good indication you're doing it right. The side profile is a killer shot! Keep it up.

The lump at the bottom is something I'm not entirely happy about but I think once the stainless is installed it will fool the eye into not noticing it.
The whole thing's kinda odd, I've never seen it done like this but I think it works on some level and my wife's glad there isn't a car roof sitting in the yard anymore.
