I did not Know there was a stockcar thread on the H.A.M.B. until today. I was told about this site by my brother-in-law. I am new to all of this forum stuff and how to find it. I will post the rest of my cars and the old NASCAR pictures there. I sure appreciate that you all were gracious enough to let me post my cars here. I did not mean to offend anyone. I love all race cars and am just finding out how to find pictures of them. Thanks all

1 1/2" to a 4" was usual for a right front depending on the tackyness and composition of the track. If your car was pushing or more or less skating the front you could put a 4" offset on to get the tire under a bit so it would have more bite.If the car was loose but stable put a 1 1/2" to a 2" to let the car walk out a little in the front. Back in the day it was too hard to change springs and shocks for minor adjustments so we used wheel offset to correct minor problems. Now days most change springs and shocks rather than offsets because most tracks get dry slick by feature time and you have to chase the setups. Allstarracing

allstar I love all the pics and info that you post! thanks

  6. Pete, you got away with it cause you only posted 1000 or more 50-70s Modified photos in a years time, maybe less. You made your bones with the HAMB and it's members.

Dr.John Posts the Mods plus. This other stuff should go to the stock car thread. Period. But who am I to say, I was just one of the earler posters and suppliers of 60-70s Modified photos.

Sorry to say, this thread is going downhill fast.

I'm not sure if I am an offending party. I guess I need clarification.

Is the purpose of this thread to post pictures only?
Questions about specific drivers or cars or tracks not allowed?
Questions of how and why modifieds were setup not allowed?
Current pictures of cars from the 60s-70s not allowed?

    Thanks,
    Barry

    Well put Emil.

I didn't want to look like a dick head (ooops too late:D). But I have to agree; the thread needs to get back on track about Modifieds; especially not late models, or street stocks, etc. from the 80's.

  9. I agree 100%.

There's a thread on this site for stock cars/late models and another for sprint cars/midgets.

    Let's keep them separate. :D

I think this thread is/should be everything to do with 60's-70's modifieds,I posted a link up for the historic stock car post just a few posts back. (post # 3296,page 165)

I notice alot of sock car guys on here, joining up for just this thread , or the historic stockcar thread, If you notice them posting off topic (for the thread) lets point them to the right one.

I have learned a ton with allstar racings few posts, for example.
so lets point these guys in the right direction if they get off track.

there are 3 major stock car threads going on the hamb:
"sprints and midgets 1969 and earlier please" (I think that is the title, I don't follow that one)
this thread" 60's and 70's modifieds"
and the "historic stock car thread"

all of these threads are a little of topic for the hamb, but I think they are tolerated, because there is so much good information, and so little drama.

there are a few random littler threads floating around that pertain to stock cars:
vintage stock cars for the street
I think john56h had a build post of a 30's chevy coupe stock car
I started one along time back asking for pics of 57 chevy stock cars...
I am sure there more too.

Randomrodder and Luke S. (and everyone else who complained): Sorry I contributed to your thread's "downhill" spiral. Deletion of non-Modified pics completed. Congratulations, YOUR thread is PURE once again!

Well, there goes the lack of drama claim.

  15. John if you want to take it personally I am sorry, I have often praised your posts, having just done so lately. You post mainly modifidied photos and like others who are regular posts sometimes do, post other class stock cars.

But if all someone is going to do is post everythingh BUT Modifidies, he/she is in the WRONG thread. PERIOD. Nothing else need be said. Read the Title of the thread. ALL threads in the HAMB are supposed to stay on topic.

How am I supposed to feel? It takes a lot of work to scan photos, Photoshop them, load them to Photobucket and then load them onto HAMB. But I guess a lot of people wouldn't know, because a lot of people who made comments never posted a pic in this thread.

Where was the notification back around page 101 of this thread, back in Feb.? Everyone is telling me, "we love your pics" for the past five months, and no one EVER said, "Hey, those Mini-Stock and Late Model pics do not belong here." So why now?

I have no problem with the " '60s-'70s Modifieds rule," but: for the past five months, no one EVER said, "Hey, those Mini-Stock and Late Model pics do not belong here." So why now?

Many of the drivers who were big names in local Modified racing (all three Treichlers, Richie Evans, Sege Fidanza, Bob Krull, Dave Hafner, Maynard Troyer -- to name just a few) all started in lesser divisions. Hell, Roger Treichler and Richie Evans started in drag racing.

So I would suggest someone go over each and every page and delete the non-'60s-'70s Modified pics -- don't you agree?

I am not going to delete any Modified pictures that I have posted, but I am not going to add any more, either. And when my it is time to renew my Photobucket account (at $40/yr.), I am not going to. If you like anything I've posted, click on the pic and save it (if you have not done so already). When my Photobucket account expires, if the pics go away, they go away.

Everything I have left up here on this thread is a '60s-'70s Modified, just like the thread says.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Dr John, its a shame you have been hurt. It will also be a shame for your pictures to go away. I hope you will post your "Stock car, late models, and mini stock" pictures over on that post, and leave your Modified and coupe pictures here.

I believe the intension of bringing up the vintage modified topic was to realign the post. When things get too far off topic on the HAMB they tend to go away. If you look over the last 5 or 6 pages you can see many pictures not on topic, (still cool, but just not 60s-70s modifieds) posted by many different people. Many of these posters are new to the HAMB and they were simply being informed of an existing post that better fit the pictures they were posting. It typical HAMB fashion, once someone mentions "off topic", the hard core topic guys jump in and slam everyone that ever strayed.

I was just a punk racer back in the day and wasn't smart enough to think pictures of what I was doing and watching would be historic. I didn't take many, and can't find the ones I did take. I am gratefull for all the time and energy you guys have put into taking, storing, and posting these pictures. I look at all 3 current treads about racing posted on the HAMB because they all are cool. Many times divisions of race cars overlap. What you guys are calling modifieds we used to call coupes, some were stock, but some were really modified, so how do you draw the line? When our track went to the late models, the coupes went to other tracks. That division was clear, but the driver names didn't change much, only the cars. Gene

I don't think it was aimed at you John.

It was simply, I beleive, that the thread was getting too far away from the original topic which is modifieds. :)

  21. Dr. John,

Here's my thinking on your mixed postings.

In the case of Lancaster Speedway the Modifieds were ther headline division, same with Islip and many other tracks. To slip in pics of the support divisions doesn't bother me, 'cause many of those guys, like me, eventually graduated to the modified ranks. It's nice to see their career progression.

The purely asphalt/dirt late model tracks that headlined those cars should be on the other thread.

Anybody agree or disagree with this logic?

Would you guys freak'n grow the hell up already! Like a bunch goddamn kids!
You know this is the kind of whinny shit that's killed many other forums.
I like coming into this forum because so many other places have folks who
are so paranoid that they might post a pic and turn around to find some dip shit selling it on ebay, I've seen stuff here I haven't or wouldn't see anywhere else.
If anybody had issues with what pics are posted where... Hey you know what, FREAK'n scroll past them... Unless you're the site admin it's not costing you a dime!
And "DR J" you're not innocent in this either. I'm sure I'm not the only one
who enjoys the pics you've posted here and fully appreciate the effort it
requires to upload pics. But this whole, "I'm taking my toys and going home!" mentality just doesn't wash. Your ass has been kissed, now get
    over it!

I'm sure I'll be missed having posted only once, but I'mm gonna see if I
can't find a "Desparete Housewives" forum if this is the kind of shit that
    gonna go on here.

    EVERYBODY GROW THE HELL UP!!!

I totally agree with modifieddriver and rich! Not necessarily with Mike G! WOW! I hope Dr. John continues to post here! His Modified pictures are absolutely amazing and I don't mind a few pics of other divisions. I really hope he doesn't take it personally, as I don't think any of this was directed at him and his postings. But if you look back at the most recent pages, it's difficult to find any of "our" open wheel Modifieds. With all the greatest of intentions by allstarracing, I think he just wandered into the wrong thread. His pictures are great and, obviously, he has had a wonderful and talented life of racing. I hope he continues posting on the "other" thread and I will take a peek over there from time to time. Now let's get back to posting pics of our beloved Modifieds. And Dr. John, if you have anymore from the Len Calinoff collection, please get back to work and post them here. Thank you for all you've done for this thread and please, let's not let it die anytime soon.

    Mike G:

    1) Do we really need your vulgarity here?
    2) Addressing the "your ass has been kissed" statement: I did not ask for anyone to kiss it. I simply was annoyed that so much time and effort was wasted over the past few months by posting what now is unwanted on this thread. Back when someone mentioned NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racing on this thread, the poster was "hammered" ASAP and it was nipped in the bud. The people who believe they are in charge of this thread and are acting as judge and jury should have said, "John, stop posting non-'60s-'70s Modifieds here" and I would have stopped right away and focused only on the official topic of this thread.
    3) I did not "take my toys and go home" as you accused me of -- I left all of my '60s-'70's Modified pics POSTED HERE -- I did NOT take them down. I merely removed the "offending" images to keep the thread on track.
    4) And how many photos have YOU contributed to this thread? It is amazing that the people who have absolutely nothing to offer suddenly seem to believe they have the most power.
    5) It's "whiny," not "whinny." And, since it pertains to the Creator, it should be written, "Goddamned," not "goddamn."
