The Columbus GG event is just around the corner, July 10-12th so I thought I'd throw and Meet & Greet thread up.

How about the same place, same time, on Saturday for the Meet & Greet? That would be 12 noon on Saturday the 11th, on the front steps of the registration building. Not the side where you walk in to get your credentials, but around the corner, toward the front of the building. There is always plenty of room to drive your hot rod over and park it on the grass on the front lawn of the building. The steps make it nice for the M&G photo.

Sometimes the gate nazi's want you to have your entrance ticket PLUS your hand stamp to enter back into the fairgrounds so just be prepared so you don't have to walk all the way back to your car. Also, the skyline thing starts/ends right at the registration building so thats a good way to get there and/or back as well.

Surprise, surprise I'm bringing Big Olds:D
Dad will have his black and silver '56 Olds there as well.
We plan on parking on the grass by the gazabo so if you're in the area and see the cars please stop and say hi......or park in this area with us. Love to have a large contingent of HAMB folks as company for the weekend.

So roll call, who's coming and whatcha bringing?

  2. We will be arriving around noon on Thursday and leaving Sunday morning. Look for the Dove Grey '34 Ford 5-window coupe and say "hi". Looking forward to seeing Denise and a bunch of other fine HAMB folks!

I'll be heading down on Thursday with a bunch of the Vintage Tin Guys. Haven't had time for my wagon, so I'll be riding shotgun with Berto in the '59 Apache. Be on the lookout for VT club member Vince and the debut of his street legal '34 Ford bodied front engine dragster. It's wild!

You know it! With a nearly 1 year old and another duck in the oven, I've got to pick and choose these days. Columbus GG's and Pileup. Anything more is a bonus. Actually if I didn't take on so many projects around the house lately, I'd be around more. When I am, don't call it a comeback!

As one of the aforementioned "gate nazi's" ;) I had to miss last year by about 20 minutes. But I'll make it this year. The Big Black Cadillac will be parked just inside the front gate.
If your up....I'll see you @ 3:00 am each morning.:D

There's a gaggle of us leaving at 8am Thursday. Taking the scenic route, and hoping to be there by noon-1pm.

And Al, we'll see you at 3am....:D

We partied in the hotel parking lot til 1am sat moring last year, showered up and were sitting in line at 3:10am. With 60 cars ahead of us.

So we then proceeded to walk through the drive-thru at McDonalds, getting hit up for money by a crackhead carrying a gun in his waistband, making friends with the CRAZY out of control manager, and getting twice the food we ordered, all in a 15 minute span.

    Ahh. Good times

    :D

My husband and I will be arriving with the Iowa to Ohio cruise which arrives on Thursday. Hopefully will have our 66 Impala wagon electrical all taken care of and arrive driving our black long roof. We'll try to meet you all there on the steps Saturday at noon.

  21. I'm thinking about going, but with some major home renovations planned for the fall, and a trip to Bonneville in August coming up, I have to pick and choose. I'm not a member of GG's either, so I'll have to take that membership/registration fee hit too! But it is a leisurly 8 hour drive from my house, so .............................

My 7 year old son and I will be there Friday, it's an annual thing for us. Sadly, we'll be on foot as spectators. Hopefully next year we'll be cruising in some vintage wheels though.

Good, you and I need to discuss Speed Week. Save me alittle of your time please.:D

  28. Won't be there this year, but wouldn't it make more sense to have it inside the event instead of having to go outside the gate? It was rather confusing for us Columbus newbies last year, which lead to us getting there just after things dispersed as the rain came.

Yep, except the fact that it has been in this location for the last 6 or 7 years, has SHADE, bathrooms, close exit and entrance for the swap meet HAMB vendors that show up, AND folks can drive to it if they want other HAMB folks to see their cars and have plenty of room to park. No other place inside the fairground would be better. Trust me, I've given it lots of thought.

I know you weren't there last year and really have nothing to compare it to BUT the Columbus GG meet & greet is usually very well attended, more so then lots of others AND folks stick around for awhile and actually mingle and talk to each other. I think alot of that has to do with there is little outside interference, we have the whole location to ourselves.

Gonna miss seeing and hanging out with you and your whole family. Want me to call you if I run across an kinlock (sp?) brake parts?;)

    KINMONTS! :D

I like the area, shade is a welcomed area at the event, it is usually an OVEN of asphalt!
