When using see-through red fuel lines or spark wires always carry the roll in the trunk with tools to replace them when they fail and always inspect them before leaving every week.

Mike, I'll bet that's STEPHEN FIELD's old '60 that we affectionately called the UnFairlane. It's a great car, especially on the highway. Nice to see it's back in the hands of a HAMBer.

I've got a bunch of photos and several videos if you want them. Any chance you'll be in Columbus next weekend? I'll put them on a CD and bring it with me.

Yep thats my old ride, in fact I met you (Earl Shieb) standing next to it at the first hot rod cinimatic, the banner was on the windshield of it...and you signed it as I remember. Thats funny it ended back on the HAMB.

Anyway, Im the one who put the Y block in it. I ran it without a hood for a while because the carbs stuck up so high (which I didnt realize until after it was all together) It used to be a 6 cylinder car. And by the way... IT IS A TEXAS CAR....check the vin. They dont come more solid than what you got. After I sold it, the guy put the hood back on it and cut the hole in the hood (I dont like it either, I always wanted to put the 57-63 T bird scoop on it like someone said) He also did a little quarter panel work on the passenger right rear where it started to bubble, he replaced alittle metal there but thats it. The floors are amazing. Heres the story: It came from texas, then went to a 60 Ford collector in Iowa (where it got in good guys magazine in 03 or 04) Then it went threw 2 more owners and it ended up with me in Dayton, where it was in Ol' Skool rods and good guys gazette in '05. I owned it for almost 4 years and sold it summer of 07. Heres a pic of right when I rolled it out after the Y block swap....Im not a big fan of the wire wheel idea.....but thats just my opinion, I think chrome reverse would look tits. I had alot of fun in the back seat of that car, nice and roomy. if you want to learn more about this car check some of my first posts back in '06

  13. I dig it! Love the tube grill. Not so much the hood. Chrome rev. and pinners and bellflower tips and drive the piss out of it!

here it was at its plainest, this pic was taken in late 04. it had the 6 popper in it, mostly all original paint, and the stock 14 inchers painted red with cokers and the same caps that are on it now.....by the way there was a short term version of the car when I hopped the 6 up too, i had 2 one barrels with the clear glass float bowls on them sitting on an old offy intake with a split manifold.

When I was a car crazy little kid, my dad would take me around to all the new car dealers when the new models came out, and I would collect the new brochures.....In 1960.....that was my pic.....I loved the flat fins.....but I was only 10 years old.....
Anyway.....I still like the looks of them.....

If you're askin'.....I'd go custom.....I like your idea of the T-Bird scoop, and wires......then I'd leave the rest stock and do a classic "Watson" paint job.....As far as the running gear goes, I'd put in something idiot-proof, and keep the hood closed........nice car......

Please leave the air cleaners exposed and the Y block under the hood! You just dont see that kinda stuff anymore, I dig it! Besides a built Y block uncorked is probably one of the sweetest sounding V8 engines in my opinion. I love 60 Fords!

Hard to beat a '60 Ford for a good riding and driving car. I have owned a couple of Starliners along the way, along with a Galaxie 2-dr sedan, and wish I had them now. Your car looks super! It must be very nice, in that it has gotten a lot of magazine coverage over the years. So I would say, just change it to fit what you like, and leave the rest alone. The Y-block is a good, dependable engine and should serve you well.

60's customs were mild to wild and those carbs in the hood are right in lne with that era. I would lower it and put some white scallops on it and a white T-Bird interior and drive it man.

I love this car man. Especially the carbs. It's even cooler that it wasn't planned! NICE.

Cover the carbs with the scoop, maybe some (very restrained, think just around the wheel openings etc.)scallops in a medium blue edged in something to make them pop a little and i would call it good.

Of course I tend to gravitate to baby blue cars for some reason.

Mike, that car is way too nice for you. I think you need to scuff it down in a few places and put some primer spots on it or something. ha ha ha

Dude, you'll get many opinions, but all you have to do is follow mine! ;)

I wouldn't have planned on cutting a hole in the hood BUT those helmets sticking, barely through is COOL. That said, I'd go the route of the t-bird scoop and BUICK wires with skinny whites and cheaters on the back like J.V.'s caddy.
