I didn't get to watch the entire movie but from what I did see they needed to fire the cound guy and invest in a "steady cam". The shakyness of the camera wasn't necessary and at times it seemed like the sound guy had the boom mic ten feet away because you coulnd't hear what they were saying.

I don't know anything about the cars or if Depp can drive a stick but here's my Dillinger story. My in-laws have a pen given to my wife's great-grandmother (I think it was her) by John Dillenger when he passed through town. They have newspaper articles about it. I'll have to see if I can get my father-in-law to go to the safety deposit box and get the articles out and scan them for me.

Any one else notice those fat sticky looking tyres on the one top rear.

  4. Unionized production time is not cheap. One missed shift, a breakdown with 70+ year old parts, etc., could cost even more time. A few 350/350 combos were cheaper than multiple takes.

  5. Here's a link to a photo of one of the cars with the camera, etc. mounted on it that my wife was showing me. It's from a Depp website that she helps with.
She said she has seen photos of Johnny's '58 Chevy Apache truck and it's really cool.
We have been out of town and have yet to see PE yet.

Just saw it. It was pretty cool. Maybe no academy award but marion cotillard is fine!
It got a little corny at certain parts, but I always love movies where they painstakingly remake an earier era. Yeah, they flipped one of the police cars ..but overall not too much damage to the old cars.

I want a Tommy gun now! haha

  10. My friends and family can't stand going to the theaters with me because I find all sorts of mistakes in any film that involves cars, boats, aircraft and guns!!!:D

Wingnutz I totally agree with you. My folks are the same way because I pick it apart when it involves cars/guns ect. How could any car nut not see the mustang II front end and coil over on the right front? Sticks out like a sore thumb. You would think with all the modern day marvels the directors would bone up a little on the era's there trying to shoot. I had a truck in a movie in a small town and had to change tires for the director because he noticed they were wrong for the times. The movie was Hope and some was shot in the small Texas towen of Anderson. Had fun-got paid but saw wrong things in it also.

  15. anybody notice the top of the slide on Depps 45acp was parkerized??? didnt think that came along till the 70s

  16. But they didn't show the front suspension and coilovers in the movie...
It's just on that "behind the scenes" picture...

I agree ...Any movie to pic apart is fun

  19. It was a wide known fact that dillinger preffered Terraplanes for there awesome horsepower and acceleration for the times,he'd beat most of the old ford tudor cop cars in a chase,he even wrote a letter to henry ford to thank him for putting a V8 in his cars because when he stole them, they would make for a quicker getaway...true story!

  20. thought that was Mr. Clyde Barrow

  21. I know the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane Club members have several cars in the movie. Dillinger liked Terraplanes, NOT Fords. Clyde Barrow is the one who wrote Henry Ford about the wonders of the V-8 Fords. There is a line in the movie where he is requesting an Essex.

Dillinger was definitely a Terraplane man!!!

A form of Parkerizing originally called phosphating has been around in Europe sence 1869,.. then it was refined and patented by Clark W. Parker here in the U.S. around 1915,
It's not uncommon to find military firearms with a "parkerized" finish, in fact it's quite common. :)
