One month till Bonneville speed week...Who's counting days?

What day are you guys hooking up with Jeff and where?? I'll be in Omaha on Wed for the night then me in Big Olds and Malcolm in his Galaxie will head west on I80 early Thursday morning picking up his Dad about 100 miles west of Omaha and continueing to Rock City, WY for the night. Plan on being on the Salt Friday before noon.

Thanks to BenD.....Looks like we have a Room at the Motel 6....even though the Road Crew will be spread around Wendover, we`ll be there.....Malcolm-aren`t you and Denise at the Motel 6? I know Aussie Steve is...since his Birthday is at the end of the week--we should let him buy us a few cold ones....

 

Lets hope this dries up by next month!!

Nobody told you guys that we're racing boats this year... Lucky

 

We are really thrashing to get the Salt2Salt car ready. If you see the #4594 Blue Suede Stude out there, stop by and say hello. We usually pit in the row closest to the long course, 3/4 of the way down the course. I think you'll be intrigued by the engine....(it's a surprise.....).
We leave Minnesota on 8/6.

 

Lets see, I'll be 65 in September..............so..............that would make lets see 1 2 3 4 5...........................63 64 Yup, it will be 64 consecutive years that I've missed Bonneville. That's a record I would be VERY pleased to see go the way of the dodo bird. Oh well, I'll have 35 more years to make it. I've got plans for my 100th birthday and they don't include Bonneville.

I'm heading from New Zealand to Speedweek for the 3rd year in a row. Just brought this 63 Buick LeSabre for the road trip... won't get to the Salt until Sunday afternoon. Can't wait!

The wife and I will be there for the first timethis year, hoping to camp in the rv at the bend in the road. counting the days !!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Coming in on the 7th. Hope to see Lucky and Bobby this year. Every time I stopped by last year you both were gone. The Crow looked great, and the crew was cool too. Hope to see ya in impound.

 

"Hopefully" if were not in the pits we'll be in impound.
I'm also thinking we'll do the same thing as we did last year and run the tank down the 3rd course...Its farther away but the lines were fast and short....

We will be pitting in the same area as always, As close to the Tech area on the course side hopefully....Please come by our pits and say hello. Even if we look like were busy... We'll try to make time to say hello....Lucky

 

It is from Megan's thread so it is a couple of weeks old, as Malcom said.

 

Ha, with enough sun and wind that'll dry up in a week. Does no one remember Speed Week '07? There was almost a foot of water at lands end when everyone first showed up. Within a few days it was all gone. Assuming there isn't much more rain between now and Speed Week we should be fine.

 

Ill be heading for Abilene on Wednesday morning. Jay if Jeffs taking his coupe out I may just say to hell with it and we'll take the 40. Mikes small enough we can stuff him in the back... We'll decide that when it gets closer. If not we'll all pile in the Jeep. Cant wait.

 

All of the Alviso Roadster hoodlums will be there....that water will dry out fast, by the way.

 

I called the KOA and they said that they're booked solid (I knew they'd be, of course) but they said that the Casino's will allow you to park in their lots. No hookups, but as long as you're self-contained, it's ok. We're gonna tow the Merc out and hopefully set up camp in a casino parking lot. Has anybody done this? Anything we need to know ahead of time? Thsi will be our first trip out and we're like 4 kids in a candy store! =)

 

There are a few things you should keep in mind...go back and read my previous response.

 

I took that picture about the 25th of June or so, I'm sure it will be golden in time for Speed week.

Hopefully I'll make a trip out on the big bird for at least the weekend (Fri-Sat-Sun). Works been pretty crazy but I'm happy to have a job so I'm not gonna complain

 

We need some prayer, the cam went flat in our new engine yesterday. A new cam is on its way, but with less than four weeks till Bonneville it's gona be tight. R and R then tune and dyno work. We still plan on being there. ;-)
