  4. Actually, I think the Nazi's occupied Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, France, Italy,,,,,,,,,,

As the Germans were approaching, Zora Arkus-Duntov smuggled gold out of Austria into Switzerland in his hopped up Ford after his folks were asleep.

I know that there is at least one compelte Masseratti engine at the bottom of that lake in a Donzi speed boat.

  6. WTF? Some of you need to re-learn your history. Germany DID NOT occupy Switzerland. Any Allied OR German/ German Allied personnel that crossed the border during the war were interned in camps until repatriated to their own country's. Many AFTER the war.
They even re-built aircraft that were flown into Switzerland after being damaged in battle and put back into service in their own air force! The only time in WWII that ex Nazi and Allied aircraft operated on the same side, a side that was on neither side fighting!
Great book about them called 'Stangers in a strange land'.

As long as the number plate can be read, it will get "restored"

Switzerland was never occupied during ww2.

They had a, I guess you could say "business arrangement" with the NAZI's which is way off topic for this board but easily researched if you are interested.

    A Bugatti in a lake, who'd a thunk it?

that's a 'lake find', a whole new catagory!

"Needless to say, that car is not restorable. However, it will go on sale later on, at a charity event in favor of Fondazione Damiano Tamagni."

bullshit! if it doesn't get propped up, as-is, in some museum, someone will show off their restoration skills...

    1. Pour some Coca-Cola on it, 2. let sit for an hour, 3. then wipe off with a damp cloth and that chrome will look as good as the day it first hit the road. (Some reapplication may be needed to achieve desired luster)

  15. To the commissary and then back to their dressing rooms?:p:rolleyes:

Some things should never be restored. This is one. I see this as a higher class and more interesting version of the Tulsa buried car.

If that was a Shelby Mustang the resto would already be underway.

  24. I like that You Tube vid, there are some other good ones out there, a Ju87, Wellington lots of WWII US Navy aircraft are starting to see the light of day again too.

Thanks man, 'Strangers in a strange land' I liked it. I think it may be Vol 2 that has the Swiss aircraft? Memory isn't quite what it was.......
Now as I was saying, I had an onion on my belt......

Funny, but sadly true. There was a guy at a Mustang show a few years ago with a freshly "restored" Shelby GT500 who was bragging that every single part had been relaced by an NOS part. The Mustang guys were ooh-ing and ahh-ing. I was thinking, what is left that makes this car an original Shelby? Nothing but the buck tag. (What's more, those NOS parts are replacement parts, and are often NOT the same as those used on the assembly line.)

Just as restorable as the model a in emerald bay at lake tahoe. They wont let anyone pull it because they claim that its "historical"

  28. I’d bet the farm that not only will it be restored, but when it hits the auction block it brings a premium because it was “the lake car”.

  29. that's how it looked to me when i looked at the pictures , but in one of the articles it mentions that it was at a depth of over 50 meters....so it had to be farther out. maybe they towed it underwater until they got to shore?

as an amateur scuba diver , i wouldn't want to spend too much time at those depths

  30. Shit, you beat me to it!

The Babelfish translator is exactly that - a translator. NOT a grammar translator. It is a literal word-for-word translation of whatever language it is reading for you.
