HA! I do remember those days as a toddler when my Grandparents would come pick me up and I'd be standing in the middle of the front seat between them going down the highway. As wrong as that sounds today, it was actually standard SOP back then! Man, things sure have changed. Could you imagine driving by a policeman these days like that?!

  4. Beige '50 Ford 2 door for me. Wife was born at home (along with twin sister, both of them over 7 pounds, both breech birth), so she didn't have to come home--she started out there.

  5. I came home in a 1936 Chevy 4-door sedan. My dad had just traded in a 1932 Ford Model B for that car because Mom thought the drafty roadster would give me a cold...

It was a 30 Ford 2dr sedan that Dad had just traded his 27 T for. Mom refused to ride in the T any more. This was in early Dec 46 in Iowa. It's a little cold in NE Iowa that time of year.

  17. A city bus. My folks sold their car as gas was rationed during WWII, and were able to use public transportation until 1946 when they were first on the list for a new Pontiac fastback.
