It's refreshing to see so many of them with blackwalls and not over-accessorized and/or plastered with surf shop decals. That black '50 Merc is my favorite.

I got a woody looking at the woodies!

I heard some where that he had to sell his collection. Something about the land being owned by Sam's Club or the city was claiming right of eminent domain. Is this correct?

Thats cool and glad to hear. I wish I could remember what mag that was in. It was just recently. I see if I can find it. I hate when the press gets the facts twisted.

Wish I had the clams to pick up one of those non-woody '57 wagons!

Mazooma, Thanks for the info. Again, if only the press could get their stories right without adding drama. I hate to see any man part with such a collection.

Thanks for the pitures. They are a great reminder of an era that we wil never see again!

What he wants to keep has to be a hard decision.I could store 3 or 4 and make sure they run every weekend.:D

  19. Unbelievable!!!! :eek::)

  20. In a way, it's kind of sad that a collection like that will be broken up. I mean ... to be able to see so many Ford wagons of what appears like every year model made in one place is quite remarkable However, I'm sure the ones that are sold off will go to owners who will drive them and give them the best of care.

This was very cool, Doug. Thanks for posting.

  21. You know what? You are absolutely dead-on right about that. Very good observation. Forgot what they looked like without that mess. These cars can't be improved upon.

    Thanks for the show.

Is the unrestored car with the eggcrate grille an old Ghia/Chrysler? If so, how many of them were made?

  23. Looks like you had another gold star day Doug. I have to start buying loto tickets so I can bid on the '42 Merc.

Holy freakin' Woody Nirvana Bat Man!

Thanks a lot for posting these pics!

  25. That gives me wood thinking about all those cars!

  26. Thanks for the post, Mazooma.
The stuff that you post is always first class.

p.s.: That rose-colored '57 (non)woody reminded me of my old one.
I recognized the oil spill under it.

THANK YOU! Guess that is the next best thing to being there. I always like seeing full coverage of lifelong collections, those that were built by guys with a true passion for the cars. What was the thing that got him hooked on woodies, and if it is polite to ask how did he fund the collection. If he made or marketed something I'd like to know if we somehow helped put that collection together. Picking the keepers must be a tought thing to do. I'd pick the '33 and '39 as my favorites.

Oh baby! Cancel the black '50 Merc as my favorite and replace it with this one! Blackwalls, original--perhaps unrestored, and yellow YOM plates! DROOOOLLLL! Fix the gas leak and then LEAVE IT ALONE.

I loved the 4x4 staff car. It was awsome along with the Merc woodies. Thanks for sharing the pics Mazooma.
