Johnny Yost in the no.71. The car of Carter Johnson was a screaming rocket ship down the straights. Nobody could touch it but it wouldn't turn in a forty acre field. It pushed so bad he had to gas it to get the rearend around then would spin. Got us this time. The car was so fast down the straights that Carter started on the pole of the heat one night spun the car 360 twice in the race while leading and still won.
Ascot Park on the dirt. Johnny Yost in the rebodied no. 71 and Bob Johnson in the no. 11. There were a lot of Johnsons out there.
Had some help here. This shows the formitable banking. This is off turn two. Not as high as salem but plenty fast.
Early NASCAR pure streetstocks. What is the difference from then to now. Only that they were new models then and now they are fifteen year old cars. Still the rules are about the same. Stock sheetmetal. Skinny tires and wheels. Basicly stock engines and trans. NASCAR starting now probably wouldn't get a thousand people in the stands.
Dennis Caves Chevelle he went over the wall at Salem in. Knocked the front end out of **** Trickles car hauler
Here is a pic of Jr Hanley ARTGO Camaro and the model i did of this car. Hope you all like it. Mark Jeffries.
Thanks, twisted. From the red-white-blue piping on the shirt and pants, that would have to be 1976. It was Milt Hartlauf's idea. We did that for the bicentennial, and Rex Robbins liked it so much he bought some for the other ASA officials to put on their pants, too. Also, if I recall correctly, my beard first appeared for good in 1976. My wife decided she liked me better that way, and it's been there ever since. Allstarracing, you've reminded me of another story for Driven to the Past on Frontstretch. I just might use that photo of Dennis' Chevelle to go with it.
Jim Taylor was sponsored by Fairgrounds Liquors located beside the Fairgrounds entrance on prestons where the gas station is now.Allstarracing
Right about the liquor store Allstarracing. I spent many a late Saturday night in Ray's back room throwing back the suds.
