    Here's a good laugh...

So I was at a car cruise this weekend drinking a soda by my rod and some goldchainer comes over and looks my car over real good. He tells me..that's a nice car but that steering wheels is too big and ugly. I thought he was joking and laughed a little until I saw that he was serious..he kept going on how ugly it is. Now, what's in my car is a near mint condition 40 Ford wheel/column/box/pitman arm the whole works and I'm pretty damn proud of it and the mods I had to do to get it fitting nice in my car. So me, being the polite guy that I am, bit my tongue and asked him if he knew what it was. He looked at it again and said that he didn't know. So I took a few minutes and told him what it was and how I had to shorten the column, etc to make it work...I tried to educate him like a nice guy. He then took another look and told me that I should get one of those smaller chrome plated ones. I just laughed at him and walked away.
Some people..ugh. Later on I saw him sitting by his model a with caddy valve covers on his SBC  Couldn't make this **** up.

I would have told him to GO **** HIM SELF!! I would be willing to bet a week's pay check that he bought his car and has no clue how to build anything.

We have them here in Spfd. at thhe cruise ins. Funny thing is most of them are power parkers , then break out chairs and bad mouth everbody elses cars. Imagine square headlights on a 38 Ford coupe. Sorry couldnt resist.

Good for you for keeping your cool.

I often wonder with those types how they would react if you gave them an unsolicited - negative -opinion about their shoes or some other thing the've chosen to wear on the day?

Good for you. Best advice I ever got was was a reminder that you can't change other folks' behavior... you can only control how you react to it. Just nod, smile, and have a nice day.

Jerry, I wish I could have been there for that exchange...that's a cl***ic. It reminds me of that old Steve Martin routine where he was in this high cl*** restaurant & he was berating the waiter with "I don't want any of that old wine, get me some new wine now!!"

I had a perfect 55 chevy steering wheel given to me by a friend once, he said it looked like **** in his car.
Next time I seen him he had a cheap three spoke autozone wheel in it.

So many people like that where I work.... drives me nuts too. The word is out that I'm building another car and I get it ALL DAY.... "you should do this, you should do that..."

I think your car is perfect, the only thing I would change is me behind the wheel!!!:D

Come on, we all know one of those sweet Ididit billet tilt columns and a Colorado Custom wheel would rule in that car.

  23. Yeah if you had one of these you might have made a new friend that day!

Couple of us were standing in an Auto Zone parking lot, waiting to meet up and cruise to an event. Counter dude comes out to check out the rides, and comments about the rides, then the inevitable R word comes out.

Just looked at the buddy I was talking to and told ratty to scope out the rear window. Nothing else said, ratty left without a word, end of stupidity.-MIKE:D

I had a guy tell me that I should change the stock wheel on my model A sedan delivery to a 8 inch like his that he straggled with in his 62 Chev truck.

I'm glad you kept your cool. He probably doesn't know what a model A looks like without an Ididit tilt column, 350/350 with a Lokar shifter and bucket seats.

I had a guy come up to me to tell me "I ruined it" because I grafted '56 Olds wheel surrounds on my '49 Ford coupe. I could handle that from a restorer, but his '50 Ford tudor was flat black with roll pans, a junkyard 350/350 with some '80s bucket seats and the a wheel/column out of a Chevy Cavalier.
