"you should sell it" I hate that one, after years of building why would I sell it?or "how do you open the doors" I usually act all suprised and say "I never thought of that, how AM I going to open it"?

"Nice rat rod" aside from the fact that the statement is an oxymoron, it really gets me pissed. Hey while your at it call my kids ugly too.

I had my insurance agent come out to take a picture of my '47 for the new policy. As he was looking at it and taking notes, he said "so, is it modified?".

Once, a perplexed young fellow looked at my ’40 Ford coupe for a while and then asked me “so, is that a kind of truck?”

Oh, I almost forgot. While at a cruise night last Friday I see a chunkabilly walk up to a couple of 60's styled T's and say "Oh man, I love rat rods!!!!!" I bet If you could read her mind the statement would have continued on to say ",almost as much as cheeseburgers."

  8. 2 weeks ago at The Strangers Show...'expert' telling 2 Canadian women next to MY car that they will do 150mph, stock from the factory, but the government forced the factory to put low speed rated tires on it so it had to be restricted to 90mph...

I'd love for my '51 Pontiac to be able to do 150mph...

A guy old enough that he should have known the answer, asks what year my 40 ford is, after I answer, he says( I had two just like that when I was a kid. ) ron

  10. I parked my Buick nail-head powered Model A roadster in front of a Rite-Aid. When I came out there were about four people standing there looking at it.
One guy asks me, "Is this your car", to which I replied that it was.
He then, with some authority in his voice said, "32 Chevy, right?". I said, "No, it's a 1930 Ford."
Then looking right at the engine, as the car didn't have a hood, he says, "flathead huh?" I said, "No, it's a Buick."
    He then says, "Automatic, right?" I replied,"No, it's a four-speed."
He walked away without saying another word and then a women, who was at least her seventies says to me, "Boy, he doesn't know much, does he?" ;)

Yesterday a gut's looking at my doodlrod it's got a 21 stud flattie with Cyclone heads, Harmon Colins dual coil, twin Winfields, old S/W gauges etc. and a nice old dropped axle, he says " I see ya got that old straight axle in there, you know they make a kit now where you can put Mustang 2 front end in that " Lucky I hadn't had lunch yet I'd have shined his shoes for him.

Actually, small block Chevy intakes *do fit* 302 Fords! All you have to do is replace
the 302 Ford heads with small block Chevy heads and then replace the 302 Ford block
and internals with a small block Chevy block and internals so the Chevy heads will fit
and then the Chevy intake will bolt right on! Quite amazing really, but it works every
time! I'd've sold that Chevy Hillborn setup to that know-it-all, numb-nuts 'expert'
in a hearbeat. After all, he's "done it 3 or 4 times before" and just because he's
an idiot and a liar and it can't be done, who are 'dummies' like you or I to argue
    with his 'expertise'! :D:D:D

Just to balance the scales, I figure you guys may find this one funny. Every so often, I get the notion in my head that I know lots about Fords. It doesn't help that my buddies are always using my vast knowledge to settle bets and arguements, thus feeding the voice in my head teling me how great I am. Well at a recent show, I stumbled on a '66 Comet Cyclone with a 390 Ford and multi carbs. Now, I'm not a total idiot, I have a 302 with an original Shelby dual quad intake on my car, yet I had to fab the linkage and such. I always wondered why it was that all The 390/427/428 Fords with dual quads had the carbs mounted backwards. I mean, they'll go on either way, but why? So a buddy and I were checking out this Cyclone and I said to my buddy that this was the first FE with dual fours that I'd seen with the carbs mounted forward, just like the ones on my small block. The owner, looked at me with a blank expression and said, "Actually, it has three-twos on it". My buddy laughed his ass off at my evident burst of blindness. How the hell I looked right at a 3x2 setup and thought it to be a 2x4 setup escapes me to this day. I'm a lot more tolerant of others after that...

This isn't MY story, but a friend of mine told me and I laughed my butt off. He has a '49 Ford Coupe. He took it out for a drive one day and the battery died on him so he and another friend were pushing it down to the end of the block when someone driving by slowed down and yelled, "SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A FORD!"...They all looked at each other and he replied, "It is a Ford..." The guy just drove off without saying another word. Haha.

I had my car parked in front of my father's shop and this wacked-out looking lady came up to me and goes,"My dad had a car just like this, '46 ford right?" I said "No, it's actually a '52 chevy" She looks at me and looks completely shocked and yells "oh my god!" so I just gave her a puzzled look and she says "I can NOT believe it! That is the exact same year I was born!" ..oh yeah?...

I later found out she paid my dad $600 dollars in singles and quarters, which explains a lot.

  27. A classic..... Fresh built 27 roadster, nice paint, tasteful chrome, right stance/wheel tire combo, no interior.
Old geezer walked around it a few times, got close (never touched), all the while looking back a me. Finally the questions.
    Him "yours?"
    Me "yes"
    Him "anybody hurt?"

Apparently I really screwed up by filling in the windows on my STATION WAGON. When I told the guy it was a sedan delivery he said, "It can't be. It has the front from a car, sedan deliveries had truck fronts". I just acted really embarressed and started cussing about how mad I was at the guy that sold it to me.
