I need to decide where I'm going to put my license plate on the Vicky pretty soon and I'm torn between putting it in three locations.
1. Centered side to side between the tail lights but above the bottom edge of the back of the car, with a light above it
2. Centered side to side between the tail lights but hanging slightly below the bottom edge of the back of the car, also with a light above it
3. Under the back edge of the car

Let's see what you all have done on your 30s hot rods for inspiration, so please post pictures if you have them. Thanks.

Centered between the tailights with the bottom edge just above the rear subrail crossmember. On a bracket NOT in a recessed plate box. This way your HAMB plate topper will look good.:)

You know, there is a lot of room between the two tail lights on your car. And because there is no trunk and no body lines I think that it may be looking little bare. So I would put them between the tail lights and above the bottom of the car.

Something to think about is Sinticket ran a spare tire back there it looks pretty slick. Just a thought, but I think that your car is turning out rad none the less.

I guess I would put it centered between the lights and also aligned the centerline of the plate with the center of the lights, when talking about the height. Damn, to much centers in this sentence ;-)

This way you have enough space unter the back edge of the car for your car club plaque ;-)

can you wait a day?... :)

I am building mine right now. A 32 with no tank, no rear rolled pan. Center but down low. I am using a Olds Rocket motor, and I found a flat OLDSMOBILE rear emblem off a 40 wagon, and it will be the topper as well as marker light. The center plastic emblem will be illuminated. It's going to be cool I hope..

I placed the lights a little higher and used an airstream trailer license plate light (repop) over the plate. Then made a bracket to secure the license plate and suspend the drag plate.

Yes ... but is not as strictly enforced on older models in certain parts of the state.
:D I used to live near where FlamedAbone lives

I live in the state capitol area and Jeff in 100 or so miles away on the coast. Here in the capitol, the police are more ...
" code enforcement " happy than in Charleston.

I like to use a A/C Cobra tag light on my roadster.

Another one, hidden in plain sight as it were.

Fairly good view of how well the plate does show up.

The aftermarket light and mount which is a couple of 1/4-20 weld bungs in the rear crossmember.
Note that the plate proper is mounted to an 18 gage stainless backer plate.

Never been h***led with the plate where it is.

Probably do the same thing on the 31 on 32 roadster project, but may move the plate back a little bit.

At a glance it looks like the car has no plates - which is a look preferred by many if you take note of how many vacuum or electric folding plate holders there are.

Nothing to fail here....

This is temporary.

Skippy asked me to turn on my lights… I did. He asked me to hit my brights… I did. He asked me to turn on my left turn signal… I stuck my arm out the window… After a short conversation with the manager and $14.50 cash, I got a nice new Texas inspection sticker on my windshield.

On my 34, mine is embedded into the rear panel, nothing fancy just a good place to be. In retrospect I may have like to have done it differently but at that the time this was the design.

The one on the Olds is in the factory location on the bumper.
