Wisconsin anti old vehicle legislation pending

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Curt R, Jul 22, 2009.

  1. Not saying I don't believe you, but can you come up with a source for that? You might send it in PM since it's kinda O/T to this thread and sure to stir up some flames from anyone in love with the guy.

Um what? And again, kinda off the topic of the thread.

I still say the best way to fight this law is to show them it will cost them revenue from sales tax dollars and registration fees and so forth that people won't be spending at all if they can't drive their collector vehicles.

It's Busy-Body-Liberalism that this is all about. Off Topic? I don't think so!

George Bush didn't make one single law. That's the job of the Congress, controlled by DAMNED LIBERAL DEMO****S during all of the Bush years.

  3. Get used to the attacks on the old car hobby guys. They are going to come faster and faster, and from places you WONT expect.
I said this when our Federal Gubment BOUGHT GM with tax dollars: "There goes the old car hobby, our Gubment wants to sell cars!"
We need to get organized. This is going to get BAD!

At least get the facts right. The 108th and 109th Congress were Republican controlled. The House and the Senate were both Republican during that time. So for 6 of 8 Bush years, Republican's were in control.

It really doesn't mater who is in control, they all **** it up.

I am going to try to make it....

I did call my state senator and we had a good discussion about it - Glenn Grothman. He is on the transportation committee. He offered support for our hobby and brought into the discussion that it also hurts our hobby that cars must be crushed under the clunker laws.

At the end of the day, he advised since he is in the minority, that we need alot of people to attend this meeting and take a stand.

wingnutz (Mark), much appreciate you making the additions and corrections about times and places in this thread. My computer skills are at a level where, at times, I can do more harm to myself and/or cause little puffs of smoke to come out of the keyboard or tower?

Can't we pay ACORN, or bus in some bums from Milwaukee to stand in the room?? That's what the other side does.

  10. Unfortunately "NO"... we can't afford to buy beer for those bums!

That's why we need you bums to show up and let those nut clowns ride Doyles New Train to nowhere!!! $49million for 80 jobs!?!?!?!?!

As a 22 year old kid, there are some days I wonder how long this hobby will be around. Between the change in energy, crackdown on "clunkers", and so on, I wonder if I'll be building hot rods to look at in my own little museum someday. Like giant model kits; built to put on the shelf. If that's the case, I hope the world ends in 2012. I've already accomplished the 2 major goals of my life...

All I can say is that if you are a auto hobbyist in Wisconsin and don't stand up for other hobbyists in the state when something like this comes up they won't be there when you need their help to stand up against the next batch of nonsense.

I've found that this type of legislation and rule change usually comes because somewhere along the line someone screwed up or something happened involving said vehicles. Is there a real safety issue involving these old military vehicles in Wisconsin?
Have there been crashes? Or are they just big and heavy and scare the little liberals with their Smart cars and Prisms? Or are the owners trying to get vehicles registered that have no business on the public highways?

Here in Washington our problems with the changes in http://apps.leg.wa.gov/wac/default.aspx?cite=204-10 had at least a partial start when someone in Spokane had issues when registering a kit car according to my inside source in the WSP.
These officials in the state capitols of the country don't usually come up with this stuff without provocation. It appears that the Provocation here is to comply with federal regs but what lies under that?

  13. When are you guys from Milwaukee heading out I-94? I'll be coming from the Mukwonago area and can meet at Hwy 83 and I-94 in Delafield, and have room for another person or two in my truck. I'll watch my PM's tonight and early tomorrow AM.

  15. I hate to say it but it looks like this thing had a federal politician in the woodpile. At the end of the "Description of Objective of The Rule" section it states: "The Department concluded that the 'Statutory Provision' requires Wisconsin to conform to FEDERAL REGULATION. FEDERAL REGULATIONS INCLUDE AGENCY INTERPRETATIONS DISTINGUISHING BETWEEN "ON ROAD" AND "OFF ROAD" VEHICLES. The Department has revised it's policy to conform to F E D E R A L I N T E R P R E T A T I O N S."

Mark, I bumped it to the top, so you can find it easier.

What is the Email address for us to register our dislike of the new bill?

  23. Make a note to yourself here guys; "YOU NEED TO VOTE IN ELECTIONS" - otherwise you get people in office that should not be there!

A quick update . . . 60+ people showed up for the public hearing this morning, way more than they were expecting. Everyone was given an opportunity to speak and address their concerns or support. Every person spoke against the changes. Many different perspectives were shared, and everyone was pretty well behaved. It was almost 1:00 when the meeting broke up. I'll let others here address the specific points and legalities of the changes. I do think we got their attention. Whether or not it makes a difference is yet to be seen. The comment period will remain open until 4:30 PM, July 31st. Comments can be made via email, however I didn't catch the email address. I'm sure someone here will be able to provide it.
