Features 1955 Chevy Gassers Owners Wanted? Post them Pics!

  1. Thank you. I hear you on the cutting up thing. It's a decent car but nothing that's really worth saving. There wasn't anything that made the car collectable; so in the end it's worth more now than it was when it still had the original six and powerglide.

Nope, no plans to radius the fenders. I just got done swapping the original rear end for a 9 inch Ford rear that's an inch narrower on each side to make tire changes easier.

  2. '62 409 Impala coil springs will slam the stock front end of a '55 up in the air. Everyone who looks at first thinks you have a straight axle under there

    Lookin!
I will definately keep the car in the velvet colour. It actually pops pretty good in person because of the metalic in the paint when the sun hits it. I had the guy that painted it put a clear coat on it with a flatenning agent in it. I am no painter! The guy wasn't too sure at first. He thought it would turn out like grey primer and was really worried. I told him no worries and lets do it. When it came out he was so shocked he called me in the middle of the day at work to tell me that he could not believe how it came out. I am real happy with it. Not bad for a 200.00 CND paint job! lolololol

  4. I like it. Cool you've got the later model RPM Airgap manifold since its 10 times the manifold as the original chevy or the old (C23 Edelbrock) & Amen to your comment on individuality. By the way I dynoed a 383SB with that setup a couple of years ago and on the dyno it wasn't that happy about the progressive linkage, so we made it
1to1 and it got real happy. We also have two 55's so I hope I'm not stepping on anyones
    toes with the '56 photo.

The chopped wagon's rear radius was done by using a front fenders as donors and has the stock lips. The others pics are of a radius that I thought was done quite nice and has a quarter round to strengthen the radius.

Not yet. Had a slight tranny leak and there is a slight knock coming from the blower. Fixed the trans leak tonight. Tomorrow night I'll look at the blower.

Somebody called me & said they got a video of me leaving saturday. They caught me doing the 1-2 shift. The street tires don't hook at all.

    Sounds great !

  25. Yup at least for us it worked out just fine, no re-alighnment needed. With the 409 coils in there it stretches the suspension as far as it can go to the point where the A arms hit the frame. We thought this might produce a bit of stress on some parts, so a set of ball joint spacers actually relaxed it a little. It will sit pretty damn high though, and is more correct in my opinion for early gassers before straight axles were all the rage.

x2 on that, slicks were pretty good on the street to help with the bite.

A friend of the guy I sold my '55 to in '67 posted some pictures on H.A.M.B. page 677 post #169025. I don't have a scanner but the car I starting building in '64 looks like the ones you guys are building now. '55 2-door posts have always been my favorite race cars. All the posts on this thread are great, The FOGGER
