OK... I'm back on the HORSE...





Ever notice it says "hot rod" at the top? I didnt see that till just now...



We decided we were gonna just concentrate on the body and work on making the car one piece. There were lots of kinks and dents... I'm still amazed this is the same car that used to hang on the wall in Kev's one car stall...



We cut apart and re-fit... worked a lot on fit and the lines... lots of detail work that will pay off in th end.









huh... I guess I sometimes flapdisk with gl***es protecting my hat... haha. This door used to have a big KINK in the middle.

This hood was made for this car back in the day by Bob Senior. Its so damn RAD... and helps to keep the texas rain outta the carbs! Notice the eyes on the plexi...

Seems like... Felt like... we were at Bobs shop in Milwaukee. It was a great feeling. The shop is pretty damn cool... but the people in it make it so much cooler. I guess thats how you guys live though that 110 degree blast furnace day in and day out. Man... Its so HOT. hahahaha...

It was rad hanging out with people all week... I think you really get a feel of people when you work with them day in and day out.

I think the whole week we were down there... was like a blur...
we worked from time we woke up until the time we went to bed...
I drank a lot of Gatorade and water...
I ate a lot of Tacos.
Man...



It was cool watchin MARK FORD trash on his coupe in the corner after hours... I got a ride in her before I left... what a *****en COUPE.






Rancheros are built like Rhinos...

The impact is amazing...
what was even cooler... that didnt get caught on camera... were all of the birds that flew up all around us up to a half mile away... THAT was cool.

 

The camera didn't show the cops showing up either by the looks of it. LOL You guys are crazy!!! SUPER COOL TRIP!!!

I ended up replacing the shocks in the front of the Ranch while I was there... man... night and day difference on the big bumps.



The ride home would be much smoother...





This crazy hood was from Dr. Dans 3 window race car... we couldnt help but mock it up.

Mock-ups are cool...



Deuce grill shells work on everything...

I guess... towards the end...
We were all gettin pretty chicken fried...

The last day we ended up making the rear roof section out of two 41 ford fenders... it had the perfect crown and shape... and it improved the car...

Bob was making one with the wheel...
and we ended up saying **** those tools... haha... and did it the old f***ioned way. Actually it worked so good you couldnt wipe the grin off of all of our faces... Seemed natural to do it that way as thats how most guys really did it back in the day.

Its no longer a model a roof... the back window is slanted slightly forward and the round crown of that caddy trunk skin and the 41 fenders look like they were made for each other... Pretty RAD.

It felt good knowing in the end we made some real changes that improved the car... this trip was ment to happen... those 41 fenders were there for this reason. And we were like... Kick A.S.S.








VON FrAncO was around somewhere... LURKING... like a Rat Fink would...



We burned in a drip well above the door... here you can see the car has really taken shape. Its one piece.

Did you know LUKE makes *****in drip rails for model a Coupes? Yes he does... but we didnt use his this time... we made one thats slippery...

 

OK this trip is cool as i said before,But now I have wood!!

 

That car is so PISSED.

That cannon would have landed me in prison.

Bobs Dog RULES....










Sat morning I was lucky enough to hook up with Cory and he now carrys some of my shirts in Luthers on Congress. What a RAD store. I brought shirts down to sell at billetproof but we didnt end up making it that far... next best thing was to sell em though Luthers... I'm pretty excited. I'm gonna do some one off colored shirts for that place-

Ok... as the week wound down to Sat night...
Kev and I decided we would leave Sat night... at night.
Why drive across Texas in 110 degree heat???
Why not drive out in the shade?

So... We decided to fire up the Grill at the shop.
EL Laura brought the food and charcoal... and man what a feast.
Thank you Laura! It was so GOOOOOOOD....



I think she is by far one of the coolest car girls in Austin... Super-Rad[tm]

Rumors abound I was on a date but really it was just our cars that hooked up in the parking lot... haha.



Girl 'n Boy... man my car looks clunky compared to the chev. It was cool comparing the design differences... the 59 is lower and wider, the ford narrow, taller and long... Her car even had its nails painted... its like a french manicured chevy...

Joyo and his wife- Kev, Bleed and Laura, EL Laura, Luke, Jezz, Mark ford for a lil bit, were all there for the going away grill out...


Man I miss all you guys already....

this is an observation...

If you take a good hard look at the guys around Bleed... his friends... you'll notice that he has in some way or another selflessly helped them get there hot rods on the road or finished in one way or another.

He volunteers himself... for better or worse... to his core just wanting everyone to have a hot rod...

Everyone should be driving a hot rod... For Real.

Its pretty rad... I really missed Bob and Laura....

It was an awesome trip...

I was thinking about it today...
putting "TIME" into perspective... knowing what it takes to get something done... It takes a lot of TIME... and lots of P***ion.

No Doubt we all have p***ion.

Its spending that time and P***ion with friends that RULES...




Bleed and Laura RULE it.

We were all just chilling outside the shop laying on the tar lookin at the stars and tellin stories.



We snapped some pics...

and El Laura spotted a small dinosaur...
it was ripping around and kev tried to catch it...
but it RAN UP MY LEG hahahaha
and I lauged so hard I almost threw up.



I think they call it a BEARDed-LIZARD...
