I built this pedalcar to my son this spring, he wanted his own car so I made it to him as my father when I was a child. It`s a downsized -61 Imperial made in glassfiber. Headlights and taillights under construction..

^ It`s built in fibreglass from scratch usin a cardboard box as base, sculptured with polyurethane foam, sawed, filed and sanded to form. Then coated with fiberglass and resin.

edit; Not so "hamby" as someone formerly said, but atleast it`s custom made. ;)

this is a great idea! Can you provide some details on the process you used to lay the fiberglass? Did you just put some resin down and start laying mat or what?

I think it's kick a$$! Kind of inspires me to do a custom body. I've been wanting to fool with fiberglass any ways:cool:

Anyone that "fools" around with fiberglass will have no problems, it`s the sculpturing that is the challenge here. Alltough I have been building modelcars from scratch all my life, it was quite challenging to do it "upscale"... But once I got started it wasn`t so difficult as I was affraid off. Try it for yourself! I hope somebody else tries this too. It`lot`s of fun, especially when you see you kid`s reaction, It`s guaranteened ;)

Yes, exactly as you answer yourself; just put the resin down and start laying mat, you remember though when you do the "box" that when you put on the mat and resin; the model will grow a bit. I laid 2-3 rounds of mats depending on location, and used much of resin to smooth it out.

edit; Forgot the first step offcourse, me and my memory... Ýou can use latexpaint before you start putting resin on it, to get the cardbord off when cured...

For the rears I used a push dolly five spoke they are 8 x 2 you can find them on ebay. They are moved forward of stock location. For the fronts I was going to use a mower wheel and do the Halibrand thing but I found the 12 spokes at the hardware store and since the Halibrand thing had been done already I went for the ET Gasser 12 spoke look 7 x 1.5. The front end is all stock components just modifided to get the look. As I stated I wanted working pedals and steering so I used the original components and modifided them.

If anyone is interested here's who built the '32 body I have. http://poptops4u.com/catalog062507.html

One of the very few bodies I've seen with correctly scaled proportions. All the details are there, and very nice glass work. Shipping is a killer though because these bodies are bigger than most at 1/3 scale. See my previous post where mine is sitting on top of the garage fridge. Not big enough for me to sit in at 6'1" and 210 lbs., but would fit my kids up to about age 10.

  23. Here's a Picasa photo album of my little wagon. Frame/steering all handmade!

    http://picasaweb.google.com/brett4christ/Wagon#

This thing has some serious miles under it....car shows, swap meets....

Ive had a new Millermatic 130 and 2 sets of aluminum wheels on it at an AutoFair in Charlotte and still pulled it around for 2 hours!

I have a pedal car body on it right now..looks like a baby gasser/altered! I'll try to geet a pic tonight!

If anyone is interested in fiberglass pedal car bodies I got them. I could send pics the major problem is going to be shipping as these items are quite large. But I am able to get what you need. I currently am working on a 36 ford and Merc I will post up pics later.

I did one of those cozy cruiers for my son a couple of years ago, used krylon fusion paint to stick to the plastic and metal flaked the top as well as the flames. Then striped it and put som gauges in it, that was for his 1st birthday and hes 4 now and still plays with his "hotrod"
