Little River (Temple Academy) hasn't changed hardly, but they run mainly 1/8th mile drags there now.

    **** THAT X2!

The Motor Mile Dragway website response to the ADRL cancellation mentions that "...Motor Mile Dragway is located on 148 acres..." I would think they can spare a few hundred feet of that 148 acres for a better shut down area for ****s sake.

  7. I think that Wildcat track is the one Ryan said he and Scotty Canon kindly p***ed on running at after they saw how sketchy it was.

You need to be nuts to want to run your pro-mod there. Not to mention that 1/8 mile racing ****s anyway.

They could run a championship for stopping, goa-whoa promod style.

  13. Wow! I can't believe how short that is. That must be quite a ride after the finish!

Maybe I'm looking at the pic wrong, but it looks like this joint used to be a quarter mile strip, and they moved the starting line down to about where half track used to be.

Why couldn't they move the line back up the track a couple hundred feet and have a lot more shutdown space?

That's as likely as anything. In the pic, is the strip oriented top-to-bottom, or the other way around?

You could tell the potential road racers in the bunch .
The pole and the cows were a nice added touch.

  22. 1,550 feet sounds right, you have the up hill stretch, the sand, the height of the Pole you hit and ALL of the return road to stop on. Whats the problem?

    Doc.

Say what you want about 1/8 mile, but we do have a lot of places to race on the east coast (but I too prefer 1/4).

  24. At the top of the pic, the darker appearing, approxiamately 1/3rd of the straight is the 1/8th mile strip. The lighter appearing section, that ends in the sand trap at the bottom of the pic is the shutdown area. The darker appearing 1/8th mile strip is due to some cars spinning the tires right to the finish line;)

We have like 15 strips here in Ohio. And I can guarentee you wont see that **** at any of them. If the cars are too fast for the track, they wont let them race there...that simple. Yes it can happen at any track, I have seen it, but that video is rediculous man. I doubt pro-mods race there anymore. I know I wouldnt...

The Motor Mile is a great strip. Like I said earlier, it hooks and their track prep is outstanding. They regularly run 140 mph rails and door cars there without incident. It just won't hold Pro-Mods @ 180 mph.

The solution is simple....either lengthen the track or don't book low 4 second rides. Closing it isn't the answer. We've lost too many good dragstrips over the years.

heh. in a pro mod, racing to the 1/4 is the dangerous part. that's why they run in the 1/8th.

that track is ****ED on the big end.

"CHORP CHORP CHORP" that is a scary sound. they have great brakes and all...but 200+ is kind of a ***** to slow down from, period.

I was at the Mountain Motor Nationals at Budds Creek, MD (MIR) earlier this year. There were a couple of p***es in the 5.90s @ 240 and a bunch of guys running 6.0's @ 230...and most of the lifting occured in the second 1/8 mile.
