OK, so there's not much to this story yet. I have been trying to get this streamliner for about 5 or 6 years and so has Matt. Well, Matt finally succeeded in talking Ralph Finley out of it yesterday.

It last ran in 1989 and held the Unblown Gas Streamliner J record at 189mph at some point in its history. That record is now 220mph. Rumor has it that it was built by Craig Breedlove, but we're trying to sort out the story.

We believe it ran a Honda CB750 motor and have already started researching modern bike mills under 750cc to stay within the J engine classification. Modern motors are looking pretty promising for potentially setting a record, but we know there's much more to it than simple horsepower and gearing.

We don't want to change it too much, but the current driving configuration of laying on your back and looking forward through your feet out the window in front needs updating. Early ideas are to make a head blister and look down the top of the "hood".

So, does anyone know this car and any of its history?

    I know. I'm an idiot!

We should have it at Matt's shop in a few weeks and we can get better pictures. Probably shots of Matt and I laying in it making engine noises.

Cool! I definitley would not want to be blasting along at 220+ mph while laying on my back trying to look out that tiny window while my feet are thrashing about infont of it.

cool....time to put a hitch on MCD and head to the salt.

i couldnt lay on my back and look thru my feet either coz at about 50mph the urine would start blowin back into my face after i pissed myself.

So is that just a shell or is there a chassis under there? Is it all glass? Shoot me some pics and I'll get you started with a laundry list of things to do.

    Kirk,
Try contacting the Burkdolls in Ogden Utah (Autobody express).
Jim may have competed against or have info on it.
They are also responsible for several streamliner bodies on the salt past and present.

Great find by the way guys.

That thing is awesome! Looks like a mini pumpkin seed. I definately needs a head bulge, otherwise you wouldn't be able to see past your pup tent.

Very nice! Any idea where the chassis is located?

  29. you are going to be all snuggly and tight in that streamlined projectile. 750 should a fairly easy size mill to get, almost all the bike companies make a good 750...go get a junked R6
