The University of Oregon is the new tenant of the building and wants to change the sign. Ramsey Signs (who own the sign) and the city have been wrangling over the proposal for several months now. They've completely restored the entire block and the building looks great though. They've denied changing it to "University of Oregon" and are close to settling on it just saying "Oregon" with neon O's on the side of the painted water tower.

I wish they'd change it back to White Stag!

We've talked with Ramsey and they know how important the Stag and the Christmas red nose are. No worries about that part of the sign and the tradition.

The argument is that the Made in Oregon company moved out of downtown Portland awhile back so why keep advertising for them. The Made in Oregon company is also owned by the Naito family.

Took these today, the first two are In valdosta at the Coca Cola bottling plant, the clock is still keeping time, the other side the hands are missing. the Other is a moden picture, But I happened to notice this evening how MUCH neon is in Valdosta, this isn't the best picture, but there's a lot!! It's not that big of a city, actually very small. I'm going to go up there one night and take a bunch of night pictures and video clips, They even have some old time style animated neons. The reason I posted it, is out here, we are in the middle of Nowhere, you take 133 from Here to Valdosta, and theres nothing but some tiny hole in the wall towns, usually less then a half mile or so, nothing but the yellow line and dark farm fields, for 43 miles, then you come up to the interstate and it's a ton of neon and activity, just rises up out of the dark, must have been what it was like on 66 back in it's day. They have some cool neon, I'll post it when i get pictures. [IMG][IMG][IMG]
