Correct me if I'm wrong, but that was the '56 u.s. nats wasn't it? My dad is friends with one of the guys who helped build the top fuel dragster that won that event. Barbara eden was the trophy girl. I believe the drivers name was melvin-something(suffering from CRS right now-sorry). They restored the car for wally's b-day party in sonoma a few years back. I have a scanned copy of that pic somewhere..........Damn! Barbara Eden was/is a hottie.

    Thanks Rich.
The pic I'm referring to must've been taken by a someone else; it's different than the one from the museum, but nonetheless va va va voom.
The last time my dad and I went to visit his buddy in oklahoma about 2 yrs. ago, he had some pics sitting out from wally's party. "Big Jack" as he's known, was reminiscing about that car. Sure as shit, there's Jack, with Melvin and Wally and other crew members I assume, posing at the starting line for pictures being taken. When I came across the trophy pic from the '56 nats, my eyes(of course) were tractor-beamed to Barbara. She was/is beautiful.
I managed to get in on the tail end of a conversation about that dragster. Just listening to Jack talk about what they had to do to make it run was a moment in history for me.
I'm straying O/T here, but Jack has been a big influence on both my dad and me. I need to give him credit whenever possible.

Wow! That Corvette's got almost every custom paint technique imaginable.....on one car. Lots of drugs in the late 60's/early 70's.

  19. This trophy queen was identified as Miss Sally Rocker. I'll let you all come up with the witty comments!

The Top Fuel pilot is old buddy Carl Olson, but who's looking at him.

It's gotta suck when the trophy girl is your sister.

Yikes, the girl in #410 looks like she's about to pound someone with the trophy.
