My favorite is the AH that sees you coming in your rod and pulls out in front of you. He's too stupid to realize that drum brakes do not brake like discs, and that Henry Ford is no longer around to make me another car.........
It is a world wide phenomenon I am afraid... The most annoying to me is when I leave the required 2 second gap between me and the car in front. Annoying because there will be nothing behind me but 'Jack the Lad/Laddette' will have to pull into the 2 second gap and brake hard making me do the same, just because they can't think or dont want to be stuck behind the 'old car' after leaving the motorway. Makes me even more appreciative of 500hp and sticky tyres at the traffic lights a the bottom of the Junction.... P.
Wide spread fearless driving is an unintended result of all the saftey features in todays cars. Blame the result on the Naders and Claybrooks that screwed up the whole personable responsibility aspect of transportation. The rest of the problem rests solidly on the shoulders of parents spoiling their brats and "family" courts terrorizing responsible parents into conforming to what "advocates" want. When these little ****s grow up, they will believe that the whole world is doing them wrong and will have no civil sense what so ever.
Try driving in the SF Bay Area! Especially here in Fremont where the majority of drivers are friggin Asian now! Not being Racist..but uh.. THEY CANT DRIVE!!!
Hi, kinda new here been lurking for a while. I think a lot drivers out there are just stupid ,but most of them aren't trying to p*** you , their trying to catch you so they can look at your cars or trucks.
same here not being racist eithier, but we have the illegals with their vans blowing oil smoke,or their decommisioned school buses, THEY CAN'T DRIVE!!! and 90 percent of them have no licience or insurance, if they get pulled over they are all named Hose' Hernadez, cops have no way of knowing who they really are, If they hit you and wreck you,you are screwed. No way to take someone to court to sue if no one even knows who they are. They are smart and all know this. so they drive like friggin idiots. anyone who doesn't carry a lot of uninsured motorist coverage around here, is an idiot. I carry it and personal policies to cover me if i get hurt and can't work, if one of them hits me i'm on my own. We have them and the ricer idiots who drive like their cars are attached to each other, one pulls in front of you, three others do like they are attached to their bumper. I'm into old Japanese cars myself, and these *****s always give them a bad rep.
I just seen one of those ricer ****s flip on the 101 last year..it was pretty funny actually..The guy was fine he walked away from it..lucky for him..He cut me off and must have been doing over 100 at one point.I seen him cut all the way over from the fast lane about 4 lanes and flipped it over off the shoulder of the freeway down a little embankment..it was pretty sureal..
All good points to be sure! My girlfriend is D.W.A. (driving while asian), terrifying! Fortunately I drive most of the time. Our illegals are worse, cause they hit you and the border is only an hour and a half away, ****. gone. My '48 plymouth has been totaled 3 times in 15 years because of this, but what doesn't kill it makes it stronger. 80 mph average freeway speeds until the speed cameras, then lock'em up, it's fifty mph time! all this and what pisses me off the most? The environmentalist, "hyper-milest", *******s that can't seem to leave a stop light at greater than a walking pace!!! ARRRRRGGGG nothing like living downtown in the belly of the beast!
Those Cameras on the freeway and intersections are a total invasion of privacy and uncons***utional. We have a local Judge who throws out every single red light camera case in his court room..coolest judge ever!
I know what you mean about the old car thing, they just ***ume that you are going to be an inconvenience to their drive. On another note....one of my vehicles is a big white E-350 extended cargo van and people pull out in front of me every 2-minutes when I am driving it. Either they are blind and can not see a big white whale coming at them,or they must just be ***uming that since it is big it must be going slow. Multply the above statement by 10x whenever I am towing a car trailer. People just can not judge someones speed by watching,or they are just f`ing BLIND!
Now imagine living in the fourth largest city in the U.S., where this is aprox. half of the population, and feel my pain! Nothing against these folks personally, but it's a bit much on vehicles!
sounds like it's everywhere............and spreading. i like it when i stay in the SLOW lane doing 65 and they still get on my ***, even though there are 4 other lanes.
My dad kept complaining about people tailgating him on the highway. I spent some time fallowing him on a road trip. Come to find out his speedometer was off by a good 7-10 MPH above 60. With our older cars and frequent tire diameter changes you really have to take this into account. That being said there is no excuse for close fallowing on a multi-lane highway. The p***ing lane is there for a reason.
Some people actually do go really slow suprisingly, irritates me to no end In a area with a speed limit of 55, there was a guy in a 58 poncho driving like 20. There were like 12 cars behind him and it took him about 10 minutes to notice and turn off. I think he thought he was in la cruising the boulevard! I saw him driving a couple days afterward on a main highway in our city 4 lanes either way. He was doing the same thing with a whole hell of alot more cars behind him this time. Luckly i was in the other lane! Hahah
I think the intent of this thread is with regard to older vehicles. The problem is that we are in the 'zero respect for anybody or anything, instant gratification' generation where it is all about 'me', because I am en***led to it, and deserve it - whatever 'it' may be, and I'm special - because my mommy has been telling me so since I was born. These brain dead egotists have no clue about the lack of braking, steering reaction, cornering speeds etc. of older cars and zero respect for them either - like the guy who rolls into the back of my 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery because he was texting at the stop light - why can't they keep their damn distance. Mandatory driving a stock Model A (only) for a month in modern traffic, before you get your full license might teach a few of them. As for the rest, they are beyond salvation - you can't fix stupid.
I was driving down I-35 from Dallas to Austin back in 1995 and there was almost no cars on the road. I opened up my '90 Mustang (modified) to 100 (yes, radar on) and just cruised along all alone for a few miles and it felt great. Then I see two rat-racing Hondas coming up behind me--honest, they were Hondas. I just stayed put and they went past me at about 115. They must have been WFO. I chuckled to myself as they disappeared down the highway. The moral of the story is that there is always someone going faster than you are.
I'm with you on that one Weasel! I'm sorry I went little O/T, but man, sometimes you just have to vent. Oh, I might ad another month mandatory in something overpowered, with a heavy clutch, and lots of cam duration!
Its funny cuase I was thinking this to myself the other day. I was driving on the 5 freeway in my Hot Rod doing like 80 mph and some ***hole is flicking his high beams at me like if I'm standing still and I'm not even in the fast lane! So I flip him off and brake check his ***!!!
Down here, if you buy a used car, regardless of its' age or mileage, yo can bet the turnsignal switch has ever been used. In fact, I understand that no parts house carrys new switches because there is no demand for them.
Anyone noticed the commercial for the new Mercedes that apparently warns you or drives itself if it thinks you're falling asleep, drifting out of your lane, or otherwise not paying attention? I don't know if that's a step in the right direction for the idiots, or a step in the wrong direction should the idiots in government learn of it and get the itch to make it mandatory for everyone on all cars. Just Friday night went to the fish fry not even half a mile away and at the one light, it turns green and we start to go and some *** rolls right through, not even looking at the road, in a late model gold Lexus or Infinity or something. By the way, I learned once that brake checks are a bad idea. The ***hole instead of slowing down, p***es me on the shoulder, swings over where a guardrail starts and just clips the side of my beater, then he and the ***** in the car with him claim to the cops I cut them off and blame me for the accident. The only bright side is the insurance company claimed he had prior damage on the car, and awarded him the princely sum of $12 for his trouble. That made me laugh pretty hard, this **** thought he was going to collect and he barely even got enough to take his ***** to dinner, unless they wanted to go to McDonalds.
I sometimes feel like my 38 is a gigantic magnet. I can drive to work and back M-F and drive to Dallas and around in my daily, and only have an occasional idiot try to run into me.... As soon as I get in the coupe, people try to turn into me, stop in front, tailgate etc, etc.... It's weird.
My 50 panel truck is great at ******* people off!!! They sneak up on my ***...(thinking I'm driving slow)...and they start getting ready to make the BIG p***...when I suddenly slow down!!!! IF YER GONNA RIDE MY ***...I'M GONNA DRIVE AS SLOW AS POSSIBLE!!!! does it piss 'em off...YOU BET!...but that's OK, 'cause I used to get pissed off by their tailgating. (and it's not like I drive stupidly slow either.) Now, I'm usually smiling to myself...enjoying the drive. Hell, I'll even casually drift to the side and wave 'em by. I'm not gonna get worked up by these ***h*les anymore....forget it!!! I also ride motorcycles alot, so everybody's out to kill me anyway
it seams like everyone here thinks that just becuase you drive an old car it's public domain not owned by one person ,an open invitation for somebody to pop your hood or stand on your running boards when you are not looking (or so they think) why should it be any different on the road?
It's not my hot rod that seems to bring out the bad in other drivers, it just seems to be a lack of caring in general. My '48 is my daily, has been for fifteen years now. I get the same treatment driving my girlfriends mercedes, it's just that it's ALL bad anymore. It just seems that having a pulse and a drivers license gives average people the right to not care about anyone else's safety on a much larger scale. I've actually heard people brag that they're terrible drivers because "it's such a terrible thing to do to the environment".I would say that the point has been missed!
