Wow! I'm out of town for the weekend with my wife and am just now seeing the pics with the wheels and fenders in place. I'm choked up. Just wow! :)

Jeff, I'll be swinging by your place on the way home tomorrow. I just have to see my baby in person! :)

And John, here's the update on the Resurrection of my 31 that was wrecked last summer: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=275101&page=6

Man, that powder-blue on the wheels is killer. What will be the plan for paint?

I believe that truck is destined to be the East Side Speed Shop parts hauler, though Titus had it for sale on craigslist so I'm not sure now.

The plan is to paint the car the same color as the wheels. It'll also get baby blue & white tuck & roll on the running boards, top and interior.

  14. Hey Adam,
Man! What a story. You should write a book. Might be a movie in there. First time I've read this thread. My sister and mom have both danced with Mr C. Beat his ass too.
    God bless you.
The A looks great. Funny seeing you and Falconman's pics. I'll bet your're ready for that pup to be back home.

People have been messaging me looking for more pics and a progress report, so it's time for a little update.

I've been down to the East Side Speed Shop a few times in the past few weeks to drop off parts (and see Jeff's ever-rotating inventory of killer projects). Progress has been coming along slowly lately but every time Jeff and I get together we come up with more ideas for the car.

Yesterday I took the 110 mile roundtrip jaunt to bring some more parts and ended up spending the afternoon with Titus in the shop.

First we tackled the dropped headlight bar. I had found a cheap polished stainless bar on eBay for the 30-31 A. Since Jeff convinced me to go with the Deuce shell (to cover up my "ugly" aluminum radiator ;)) the bar had to be bent to clear the V in the grille insert. We used Jeff's press at first but found that brute force, a vice and some steel plate got us the desired results. Here's the headlight bar in place with the BLC 904's I picked up at a local swap meet. I had originally set out after some Guide's but dig the smaller BLCs here a bit more.

With the grille and hood in place, Jeff and I talked about peaking the grille shell to to match the height of the hood hinge. Before I knew it Jeff had a piece of roundbar in the vice and was going to town with a grinder creating a tapered piece for the nose of the shell. Here it is tacked in place.

Then Jeff got busy filling in the gaps by tack welding along the length of the roundbar on both sides.

    More grinding and filing.

And there you have it . . . we "ruined" a completely good Deuce shell!

A little magic with some filler and she'll be perfect. We're thinking of continuing the peak onto the cowl top as well but that will wait for another day.

That's all for now. Can't wait for the next trip to the East Side Speed Shop for more!

The Willys Jeep was another customer project Titus was working on. It left the shop awhile ago. And the rear wheels? Um??

Nice work fellas. I'm still interested in how you end up doing the rear cross member.

Spring over or add to the frame?

I'm thinking the Pile-up is probably a bit far fetched, but Jeff is a maniac in the garage as we've seen before! ;)

Either way I'll be there in line for some of your good eats, John! :D

Matt . . . get in touch with Jeff about the headers. We need you to work some magic to make them fit with the fenders. Jeff has all the details.
