I am just wondering if anyone has this style rim but with a picture without the center cap? http://wheelvintiques.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/page14.html
This might give you an idea... Coker Smoothie Rims, one with the cap, one without. Most of these rims have the 10 hole universal bolt pattern, so they look better with caps, but I did see a car at a show once where the owner filled the five extra holes with little chrome plugs. Different.
Does this help? I drilled the holes in them to run a different style cap... one with and one with out
Most of these wheel companies buy their centers from the same stamping plant and they come with dual bolt pattern - either 5 on 4-1/2" & 5 on 4-3/4" or 5 on 5" and 5 on 5-1/2".
Sun down, that's a really nice '52 ya got there! That's Pontiac stainless trim below the windows, isn't it? What's the source of the side spear? (If ya don't mind me asking!)
The 12 series wheel have lugs/bumps on the inside of the hubcap ring area to hold the caps in place. The are smooth only when running hubcaps.
Retromotor, thanks for the kind words, yes it is pontiac with Buick side trim.. I bought the car from Hamb member, Slide over 2 yrs ago.. been a great car, drives and handles really good.. he built the car and did a great job..
If you think the outside looks good, you need to see the tan leather interior. It's SWEET! Aren't those pinstripes new since the roundup?
The 12 series will be my other set on my 28, 5 inch wide all the way around. My other set will be the smoothie rally style same wheel but with the rally holes in them...John
