Hey guys, I've been looking for a shop to take my car to get it finished. The bulk of the work is definitely done but I need some professional help to make it perfect and that's the way i want it, PERFECT! I need to find a shop that understands customs and for some reason i can't seem to think of any. I had a shop lined up but I'm a little sketched out on the location and their security as a lot of the cars sit outside away from the shop at night. So if you can think of a shop you have used or know of, please let me know and i will get in touch with them. I had a goal set for PRIMER NATS but i think it's a bit unrealistic. I honestly though i could tackle this sanding and blocking thing but in reality, I'm just chasing my tail and I'm getting a little impatient and tired!! If you wanna see the car check out my album there's 90 pics of my project!!

    Thanx in advance!!

    Ian

yeah, if you're finishing it in primer, and you got it that far, you should easily get it done yourself.

i can think of 4 or 5 shops including mine that can make it how you want, but i dont think it will be cheap, and obviously, you got a grip on it so go for it.

load it up , and start blockin with 80 grit

^Yeah... what they said! You've got the tough part nearly done. From here on out it's as easy as shampooing... apply, rinse, repeat! Keep us updated with plenty of pics

Hey, come on now, no time to be runnin' for the tall grass!

Kill that surface rust, lay down a preminum grade of epoxy primer and follow it up with some well sprayed polyster primer and get out the '' long idiot stick"! You've got alot of filler on those panels, and it's gonna take some build to even all of those surfaces out. If you're feeling overwelmed by the scale of the project, take it a panel at a time. That's how they all get done, anyways.
Primed and blocked by Primer Nats time, piece-o-cake, if you start NOW!

You guys rule!! I really appreciate the feed back. Yes i've come a long way with this project but i'm running out of fumes on this sanding BS:( , but i guess you guys are right, I should finish this thing myself. It won't be ready for PRIMER NATS for sure, that i know. One thing that scares me about finishing the car is shooting the primer , I gave it a shot on the hood and i had some nightmare situation trying to clean the gun, i guess i just wasn't prepared enough. I have some money saved to get the body finished but i guess i'll save it for the upholstery!

Thanx again for the advice, all of you!!

Theres alot of people looking for side work and xtra $$ these days, hire someone qualified (laid off body man?) to come over a couple nights a week and work with you, wont seem so overwhelming, they should be able to provide some expertise and you should get moving along and see quicker progress/results and you can keep an eye on your ride etc. win win for everyone jus my .02 .... xtra

sorry ian. did mean to fuc u up. but it would be kool. i would be honored to paint it for you. you don't need an atlas tho its just I-40 east. your home for the next 27 hours to ks. or aprox 14 to nm. and yes I'm getting to be a paint whore, and i always want more. lets paint the world with kolor !!! what kolor are you thinking about?

LOL!!:D. I was looking at the atlas to see what i was up against if i drove all the way or to NM. I've never driven that way so i was curious. As far as color i was thinking of a nice metallic burgundy or dark green , kinda like the Barris Merc. But like we ALL do , i keep going back and forth with colors:confused:
I would definitely love your input though. I know you could help me with a color scheme.:D. I have a couple things i need to do though before i take it up there. One, making her run good. Two, finish window garnish in the back. Then odds and ends as far as body goes. I wouldn't want to fuck up a nice paint job. Also my glass is all cut, professionally, but not installed because there's no primer or paint around the window frames. I have all the rubber.
Anyways, seems like i might be going on a road trip. I have to find or rent a trailer, shouldn't be too hard though!!

WOW! I paid 600$ just for the windshield here in Burbank.....Uninstalled!!
The windshield might need VERY LITTLE shaving in some spots. I couldn't take the car there for them so i was going back in forth from my house to their shop to trim a little at a time. Pain in the ass!!

wow, awesome car! too bad youre not closer to oklahoma. coming from a long time restoration man, it would be a pleasure to work on that beauty. i was tempted to tell you if you want her done right, send her out here to me, but in reality though, unless you were going to finish it in show paint, it wouldnt pay off to send it all this way. LA is a big enough place, im sure you can find a reliable shop there, but you are right, they mostly work on new cars now, and you dont want "collision" body work done on this car! gorgeous car though, that is a body mans dream.
