saturday my wife and i strolled throught the new hope auto show when i stumbled upon this 54 olds, very interesting history, car was restored by marquis auto restoration in philadelphia ..pictures taken from marquis web site, untill i figuer out how to up load from my new camera
Corvette roof? I'm fairly certain this car was posted before in its original unrestored condition a while back. maybe an ebay ad? don't remember.
I'd like to see a shop with some full or partial skirts in back but that thing rocks my socks. Thanks for posting.
it sure does look like one but it is the stock roof shortened. http://www.marquisautorestorations.com/1954_olds_dream_car.htm
Seems like Rikster may have posted some pictures of it from an earlier incarnation...I sure like the restored version's nose treatment...the as-found version looks like a 1960's 3 in 1 AMT model box illustration... Can't wait to see more pictures...
IMO the grille treatment on the car in its "as found" state is better looking than the original & the restored versions. cool car none the less
the car is positivley stunning..i saw the car on saturdsay but i didnt bring my camera-went back again on sunday to get pictures and more information & history on the car
It was at the World of Wheels in Chicago in January. It's a custom. It looks really heavy and cumbersome in person, but it's nice seeing an old custom saved
I have a picture of my old showrod in '63 if you look close you can see Joanne's Dream next to it. both cars crosed paths again this year in Chicago so we took advantage of the photo op.
Very cool ,,like to see teh show pix. Don't think i've ever seen a Custom car at New Hope,,was always more Antique and old Brit cars ( and Mustangs and such ). That is a nice build ,,and yes the oval grille in the broken picture looks much better
Well might be what it needs,,After being gone for so long gonna take alot to make it anywhere near what it was
I saw that on ebay not too long ago, i very much wanted to own it, and it wasn't expensive. I'm glad i didn't buy it, because i would never have done as nice a job as has been, and I'd still be sitting looking at it in it's brown state.
Just watched the show "Car Czar" on NGC. it features the guys from Marquis Auto. To ights show was all about the restoration of this car. I wish the show was more than an hour so I could have seen more build details.
This is exactly the era and style I love. It's a time when my generation's Grandparents were factory workers building things with thier hands. When in thier spare time spent it in the garage designing and building their own individual visions of futuristic dream cruisers. At this time my generation's parents were watching. The imagination was the limit and history was carved into an automobile to represent life's journey down avenues of heaven. Reading roadside signs of things to come and choosing paths to get there. To shine down upon prophets of the earth in their chariots of fire preaching the gospel of accomplishment. If one person can accomplish their dreams we all can and when we do them together the dreams get better. Thanks Tom and Joanne Archer your Olds sends me on a Super 88 Holiday. Fantastic job on the restoration Marquis Auto Restorations you have helped my dream of keeping automobile history alive. Let's all keep the automotive archeology going strong! Everthing is something and something can only be nothing if someone lets it, so let's keep the parts here and available to build more dreams. We all could only hope for others to carry on our dreams in our everlasting journey through time.
