I Started Building My '64 Caddy Coupe Last Year When I Was 16.

The 429 Was Full Of Water And Mud So We Thought About Puttin' A '62 High Compression 394 Olds Rocket In It. There Was To Many Exhaust And Steering Issues Though. So We Just Put A 400 Small Block Chevy Hooked To A Turbo 400. It Should Be On The Road In The Next Couple Weeks.

Matter Of Fact It's About Time I Start A Build Thread On It.

I'm almost twice most of ya'lls ages, and I'm still the black sheep of the family because of my cars. My mom still bugs me about working on them. :D BTW, good to see so many younger guys and gals working on older stuff. Someone needs to carry this stuff forward.

  13. Cool thread... If you young guys/gals don't mind me asking, how do you fund your projects? Get alot of help from your parents/relatives, work for everything you got, buy and sell other items??? Anyway you do it... it's great to see other young people into the hobby. I'm a little older at 26, but am finally able to afford my first old school rod -25 t-bucket done up as a 60's style drag car.

Hey, this is great! I am 17 years old and already have a 1955 chevy pick up under my belt and am now starting another. I like to see that there are other youths out there that arent intimidated by a carburator or a set of wide whites!

We Do Pretty Much Anything At Our Shop To Keep The Doors Open, But Mostly We Do Spray In Truck Bed Liners And Custom Paint. We Sprayed 2 Trucks For My 64 And A Couple Early 60's Olds Rockets. So We Were Gonna Stuff The 394 In It But Traded An Old Triumph Chopper Frame And A Big Ass Springer Front End For A 400 SBC. Then Traded Mike Lloyd At The Sprint Car Shop An AR-15 Upper Receiver For The Machine Work, Five Angle Valve Job, And Roller Valve Train. We Pretty Much Traded Whatever We Could To Get The Drive Train And Have It Rebuilt And So Far Have Less Than $500 and Countless Hours In It.

I've Been Going Down To The Shop For As Long As I Can Remember And Will Keep Going There Till The Day I Die...

I'm not sure I've ever been more jealous of an 18 year-old 'punk kid'. Judging from that picture you're having luck with the ladies, too.

Good on ya! Christ, when I was 18 I was driving old firetrucks and living in the firehouse, having just sold a 66 LeSabre 4-door for college loot. Oh the thing's I'd change if I knew Kool back then.
