Thanx

2. Have you tried telling them you'll be hauling a 2004 Toyota? Lots of the rentals don't have 'our' cars listed in their software.

Used a uHaul trailer to bring my 38 back for Jersey. They have one size.

The vehicle being towed:

• Must not weigh in excess of 5,290 lbs.
• Must have a maximum outside-to-outside tire width of 79.25"
Note: outside tire width over 75" must use late-model U-Haul Auto Transport (identifiable by silver galvanized color).
• Must have a maximum wheelbase (distance from front axle to rear axle, usually posted on the driver's side door jamb) of 133 inches.
• Low-hanging equipment on the vehicle being towed such as spoilers, air dams, ground effects, etc., may be damaged by contact with the Auto Transport during loading and unloading. Make sure there is enough clearance for these items.

I went to U-Haul to rent a trailer to get my roadster to the muffler shop. First question was "What is the make and year of the car and weight?" Told them it was a VW weighs 2000 lbs. Good to go. They didn't have any older cars listed on spec sheet. So if ZMAN's info works in California and your car is within the size limits it ought to be okay. Good luck, The FOGGER

Cool, but the only problem is nobody has a trailer big enough for my car it seems like. If i tell em' im towing a small jap car they'll give me a 10 foot trailer!! TOO SMALL!!

13. U-Haul only has one size auto transport and your '51 will fit.

pictures of your car make it look very low
can you get the car up a little?

I hauled my new '52 home a couple weeks ago on a dolly
might be easier to find
and cost about half as much as a trailer too.

You're towing a dune buggy, one that's too long for the 10' trailer. At least that's what I always tow. Well at least ever since they told me a 3/4 ton chevy with factory tow package and a 454 was not considered enough tow rig to pull an old toyota minitruck. "My dune buggy" is wide and needs the fullsize trailer, but only weighs 1200 lbs.

good luck

4 skateboards and some ducktape? ;)

What's the word Ian? You HAVE to be super close to having this on the road. Where are you trying to transport it to?

17. have you tried Sun Valley Rantals over on Lankershim between S.F. Road and the 5 freeway....

When you go to UHaul, tell them you're towing a Corolla,Civic or some other small car.
Keep the year between '90 an '99 and you'll be OK.
I told them I was towing a Suzuki Sidekick when I rented one from UHaul a couple months ago.
It also helps if you have a 3/4 ton truck OR a 1/2 ton with 4wd and the Factory Tow Package.
I have heard the will NOT rent you a trailer if you have a Tahoe/Yukon/Expedition.
If anyone has info to the contrary, please correct me.

Also,IF it's not registered, you do have to tow it on a trailer. If you use a Tow Dolly,it needs to have current Registration to avoid a ticket from a "curious" P.O.

Here's my truck and the "Sidekick" I towed.....

Yup, I tried to rent a Uhaul (one size fits all) trailer to tow my VW bug(56 dodge:)). They asked the tow vehicle type. Told them a yukon. Nope wouldnt rent it to me. needed a 3/4 ton or 1/2 ton with tow package. And they wanted to see it before they rented it to me. So went and got my friends doge truck, got the trailer took it home and hooked it up to my jeep.

The U-Hual on Hollywood Way near the I-5 exit has always been friendly to me. I've used trailers from there several times without hassle.
Yes, there is only one size car trailer.
I usually tell them I'm towing a '62 Falcon 2dr.

Did Uhaul eliminate the small trailers over the last few years?

It's been about 2 years since I've had to rent but at that time they had 2 different sizes of car trailers. Maybe they considered them the same for rental purposes, but there was a couple inches width difference between the trailer styles on that lot.

Join AAA and then call for a flatbed. Whenever I go to county auctions around here that's how the majority of the cars get taken out.
