This is a cool old newspaper clip from the Bremerton area of a neat old Willys gasser owned originally by Terry Scatena. I think I've seen his latest build, another cool Willys that runs around Bremerton as well. Thanks to Ritchie Adamski for letting me scan this from his old photo album!

  5. I also wondered if it was a "G" or a "C". If the engine is back more than 25% of the wheel base it would go from Altered to Comp. With that aero nose it would never be a Gasser.

And to 53Olds...it's definitally a Henry-J. Way to wide a body shell for a Crosley.

Yep, he's already hit the rail and is about to hit it again. The original magazine/book caption says he didn't hit the wall but that is clearly not true!

Mebbe that was broken on a previous run?

I don't see any hood opening edges on that front end. Tilt maybe?

Left rear tire is smoking, could be going sideways, the direction he's looking.

[IMG] Royal, That picture of the Trans Jammers car, was an inspiration for me when I built my car. I bought the body in 1993, while attending a race at New England Dragway. I was not even looking for a car, but the price was right. On the drive home I built the car in my head, exactly the way I wanted. I recalled the Trans Jammers Club being spotlighted in Hot Rod Magazine, and loosely base it on their car. They ran their car with an Olds with six two's, and no nose piece. I oppted for a Chevy with six two's, and a three speed stick shift, and run without the nose.

Car seems to be a mixture of old and new, for the time period anyway. Kellison style chassis and chain belt from the late 50's, Enderle injecter hat and zoomies from the mid 60's. Still, I bet he had a lot of fun with it

I've been wondering about that for a while. We saw a guy with an altered who had an enderle scoop backwards last year and were wondering why. Makes sense i guess. Thanks for the info! :)

Oh, the 917K's weren't turbocharged. You're thinking of the 917/30 Can-Am cars.

And the "K" stands for Kurzheck (short hatch) or 'short tail' instead of the cars that had a "long" tail bodywork, the 917LH or Langheck (long hatch).
