ONCE AGAIN ,had a great time. four of us showed up. i thought there was a decent amount of cars for a fairly new event. and not every one can fight the crazy fucking traffic you guys have down there when all the people are headed down the shore on a beautiful saturday afternoon. i chose not to bring my 70 shovelhead because i would want in the gate. and yet there was a brand new twin cam blockhead and a JAP bike....... if it was up to me i would have no jap shit at such a cool american event. i am not complaining . i just think it's wrong no matter what year honda it is LOL
anyway THANKS AGAIN for an awesome time. both bands were awesome . seeing milners coupe go up against falfa's 55 was too cool.

Cool! good to hear, got jammed up Sat night and just couldnt make it.

 

I am just the head Paper Shaker (Cheerleader) and have a pipeline into the inner circle. Mel (Dirtyest Devil) and Kevin (VanHorton) are the honcho's. I just am able to get hot off the presse's info sometimes and relay that info to allow Mel and Kevin to concentrate on the tasks that make it all possible. I am here to help but in no way deserve any undue credit.....I am just a pain in the ass.....and my mama told me " If your good at something stick with it." If I see questions that want or warrant answers I give a little mule kick in the right direction...Thanks Dave

 

Now let&#8217;s put this other side of the fence stuff to rest&#8230;.way back when I used to go to Unidilla Motocross race&#8217;s, in the middle of the track were two huge hill&#8217;s and a dip in the middle of the track, if you were on one side of the jump you would yell &#8220;The other side sucks&#8221; then you would walk around to the other side and yell &#8220;The other side sucks&#8221; It was great fun&#8230;..

The main reason&#8217;s for the &#8220;inside the fence&#8221; is for pre &#8217;58, that is what this show is about, there are plenty of other show&#8217;s that mix it all up and you may park your 32&#8217; highboy roadster next to a 77 Vega and sit in a lawn chair looking at yourself in chrome and Billet, we like period correct, pre &#8217;58, look at the pictures ain&#8217;t they cool? Make them black and white and it&#8217;s a step back in time.

The other reason is for alcohol consumption, the track has to contain the guzzling.
We try to keep post &#8217;58 on the other side of the fence, if people wouldn&#8217;t get pissed about being on the other side of the fence and leave it would end up being a nice post &#8217;58 show on that side of the fence, just no drinkin.

Also some people just want to do their own thing and ignore the directions of the gate keeper and park their soccer vans as close to the gate as possible and we end up with 93 Buick Regal&#8217;s parked next to 67&#8217; camaro&#8217;s, that sucks for every one.
There is no vehicle discrimination going on, just segregation&#8230;

This is f-n awesome, went last week, made passes down the track, hung out, so much fun it feels like it shouldn't be legal! can't wait till next time!

 

So for all of us that can only make it down once a year will you have a big blow out show next year or do we just need to pick a weekend to show up? I had a blast down at the "Devil at Your Feet" premiere, I am definitely showing up again next year.

I would actually love to drive her across the country, but I'll start with shorter trips first. My friend and I plan on making a trip to Bonneville and I'm toying with driving it to L.A. for the L.A. Roaster show...all 1,180 miles

 

I'll race you to the L.A. Roadster show... hahahaa. My 22 is still out there, sitting in my buddies garage in Burbank. I'll be leaving it out there as I hope to spend some winter months there this season.

 

Just a heads up...

We were trying to do a season finalle, looked like Oct. 10th was going to be the date. Turns out that date falls on my favorite show of the year... Hershey. So we can't do it, nothing gets in the way of Hershey for me. Not a ton of hot rod stuff... but its better then any other holiday for me.

By the way.... anyone going out this year, stop by the Red field, spots RWZ 18 & 19. We Oilers will be set up with a cool old style spot. I'm breaking out the paint brushes again! Might bring the louver press for fun, might not. Al will have his running bangers, and V8's for sale. We'll be selling parts, hanging, cooking, stop by.

I asked if we could do a Motor Speedway event in Nov., a final hoo-ra! We'll see...

Is it too cold, too late, etc?

I personaly think it's fine, I like driving in the fall. Not enough cool events happening I think... might be perfect. If so... it will be a huge one.

 

Hell...I'm so far behind this year, November is when I might actually be ABLE to attend again!
Fall weather in Jersey is a GIFT, after this shit...If its jacket weather, it would be great.

I think it would be a fun drive from Portland to L.A. and I'll keep you guys up to speed if I do decide to make the trek. If I do, look me up!

 

my favorite days running my dart at etown were the beggining and end of the season. i like the cooler months. unfortunately we neevr know when one of those wicked cold ass days will sneak up. hopefully you keep it going, im going to try to do something with the essex over the winter.

 

when will motor speedway re open next year is there a date set so i can have my 56 gasser ready to run the track ...

 

I'm in for whenever. The car is finally a little better looking so I can take it out of hiding, haha. October, November, whatever.
