just curious if I'm just over reacting or not. I've been trying to sell an o/t truck, been posting it on everysite now for 3-4 months..I got about 4 times as much money in the damn thing and am selling it for pretty cheap.. and yet I get people asking to buy it even way cheaper..even though half of em know what Im asking is way more then fair..its like insult to injury.. today a guy calls and offers me 400 bucks for it.. I got so pissed I told him I was going to burn it before I sold it to him for that much..right now I'm looking for a big enough gas can, cause I'm at that point...

Yeah buddie, I've been having a inventory reduction sale this year and have heard just about all of it. One part I'm trying to sell for a couple hundred bucks, I have probably a thousand dollars in my labor sending e-mails to guys who are askin' dumb stuff. WTF. Hang in there, somebody will come through for ya.

i had an off topic truck also that i sunk 10 grand of brand new parts into, and literally put less than 5 miles on the drive train, was going to take a loss and ask 4800 bucks for it, i was offered so much junk for trade and i had cash offers as low as 800 dollars, but 1500-200 bucks was the most common
i ended up getting 3300 dollars for it from just being tired of messin with people...but now the guy who bought it just calls every few days asking me stupid questions and complaining about things that arent my fault..

  6. I live ovrseas where the locals don't apreciat anything. I have been trying to sell my Camaro for over a year now it is really ******* me off. Had another tire kicker I had to go meet earlier tonight. I would be willing to give it a way to someone who would treat it good at this point.

That just happens,,when your putting the $$ in,,most times your not thinking about "when I sell this",,also liek a New car,,soon as you drive off the lot its worth less..

Its a double edged sword,,also when we put money into something that WE think is hot,,may not be everyone elses tastes ad that can make it hard to sell regardless

"There is nothing new under the sun."

    and

    "It's no good, it's no good!" says the buyer;
then off he goes and boasts about his purchase.

...both written several thousand years ago by the wisest man in the world.

Given enough advertising, some one will want it. Just ignore the others. They're just trying to take advantage of everyone around them. You only have to put up with them for a few seconds on the phone but they are stuck living with themselves the rest of their lives. ****s for them.

If someone lowballs me on something, I just say "Thank you for wasting five minutes of my life!" and hang up. Then press on to the next idiot.

i agree totaly i had a bike that i had hours of blood sweat and dough in and put it up for sale on a certain "LIST" site for dirt cheep (i didnt think you could buy a bicycle for as cheep as i listed it for) but the type of people that responded and came out wasteing my time .. and on top of that i think most of them just wanted to come and look and ride it but had no money to put gas in thier tanks let alone buy it ... would you belive one guy want me to pick him up !!!!????? wtf!! but then after all the bs emails and phone calls of turning down stereo equipment and in one case puppies, yea puppies .. there was one guy that wanted to trade me a 52 customline , which turned out to be extremely clean and had a running flathead v8 ...turns out he just wanted a bike that bad.. so keep your head up and continue to walk into the wind someone wants what you got they just have to find it... all in all i think i got the better deal of the trade and i dont regret it at all it was worth the headache..

I haven't been able to sell a single thing this year. :( And that means I haven't been able to buy a single thing this year. :( I understand nobody has money these days, but you would think someone would pull through? I'm not giving up, though.

I would suppose everyone is trying to get what they want for cheap, because they don't have the money to get what they want for the asking price. It'll drive ya nuts having to sit and wait for times to get better. And the heating season ain't even here yet.

I'm tired of all the CLOWNS trying to offer me NOTHING for stuff I have for sale. Just had a "happy customer" call the shop the other day and procede to scream at whoever picked up the phone some **** about us "bad mouthing" him to another shop. After the yelling ceased he finally agreed that he could have been wrong about us bad mouthing him. I told him I still had no idea what the hell he was talking about and he hung up... maybe his problems are Meth induced problems? I think that could be true.....

jesus... you guys worry too much about ****

if someone lowballs you, they are only doing what the **** YOU would have done, right?

if the offer is too low, tell them to keep dreaming and walk back into the house. you all act like they came over and took a **** in your wifes sock drawer and then got your daughter knocked up.

  22. When some one makes me an offer that i wont take. i thank them for the offer tell them it wont buy it. That it didnt cost or hurt anything for them to make it any offer is better than a poke in the eye. If you cant deal with all sorts of people better to let someone else sell for you and pay them a comission. One trick to selling is remember you dont owe the customer anything. Dont be too eager to accommodate. You dictate the time and terms of the sale. Be firm for example ( state you can see it in the next hour bring cash and a trailer or dont come at all)If its your easy it takes the luster off the item. OldWolf

thats just the way things are, , , even more so in the present economic slump, , , i usually just politely tell them thats the lowest i can take, , , the thing that drives me nuts is when someone doesn't show up and doesn't bother calling to let you know they can't make it, , , that's just rude, , , recently, i had a guy come and look at a car, , ,after having the whole conversation about people not showing up to look at the car, he proceeds to tell me he'd be right back with the money, he just had to hit the ATM machine, , , THEN the ****er never comes back with the money, , ,makes NO sense to me why he just couldn't say he was not going to buy it, , , sometimes i just cant figure people out. . .

I gave away a truck I could not sell to a good friend that needed it.
like you I got a lot of ridiculously low offers that I considered to be an insult and made me mad.
that was 6 years ago and my friend still drives the truck it being his only vehicle and too broke to get anything else.

  26. I always follow the advice of never burning bridges, you may need to go back across them. Bite your tongue, smile, and say "I would like to sell it to you at that price but I am going to hang on to it because I am sure it is worth more than you are offering. Please leave you phone number and I will call you if I decide to sell it at that price." When you sell it, call him and tell him you sold it for just a couple of dollars more than he offered that will make him crazy.

    Swap meet story.
Buddy has a part along with a ton of other stuff. Price is 15 bucks, I seem to remember it was about 10 bucks under the going price. Guy came by and looks it over and offers 10 bucks. My buddy says no it's 15 bucks so they argue over it for about 20 min off and on. My buddy is getting annoyed over the deal. So another guy comes by and picks this item up and asks How Much??? My Buddy says "It's yours for thats OK" Guys says Wow thanks and goes away with this other ***hole following saying " Hey I'll give you 10 bucks for it"

Exactly why I rarely sell anything. The "deal of the century" may be out there, but you ain't gonna get it from me. I don't need top dollar when I sell something but I sure as hell won't give it away either. I'm so tired of listening to jack***es tryin' to steal a $1000 item for 10 that i'd rather just let it sit. And that was when the economy was good. I can't even imagine what kind of nonsense/knucklheads you must be dealing with now.
