Has the caddy had some work on rear quarters? I don't remember any year having that much hump before tailights.

call me dumb AD chevy ?

  15. Are you sure he is not one of the old Manson family?

BTW...yes, that Caddy has had a bunch of custom work done to the rear quarters. I spent 5 years as a kid in the back seat of one of those and know it like the back of my hand.

Great find. Looks like you could put in a battery and some gas and start it right up.

The caddy definitely has had work on the rear quarters and the front fenders look like 54 or 55 or 56.

he does look somewhat criminal.
you got a good project there!!
    i dig the dune buggy!

  26. I agree, your truck is a '39, or at least it has a '39 grille, possible that the grille could have been replaced, so a few other easy ways to tell '38 and '39 apart:
'38 has ash tray in middle of dash, no ash tray on '39.
'39 windshield regulator has a handle just above ridge of upper dash panel, '39 has a round knob up on top of upper dash panel.
'38 inside door panels are laminated cardboard, '39 are stamped sheet metal.
'38 gauge faces are a bronze color, '39 are sort of a chocolate milk color
'38 came with mechanical brakes, '39 came with hydraulics.
'38 hood ornament/latch handle has a stepped design with a smaller base; '39 handle is smooth, and the base extends from the front edge of hood back the full length of the handle.

Go to Mac VanPelt's site, www.flatheadV8/com, to find serial number ranges for all of the flathead model years. The serial number is on top of the left frame rail somewhere between front crossmember and firewall but usually right beside the steering box. If the truck has its original trans case, the same number will be found on the bell of the trans case above the clutch inspection window.

Oh yes, Henrietta the '38 Ford pickup sends a friendly toot of her horn to your truck and says that she hopes to meet your truck somewhere on the road one day!
