Route 66 rendevous in San Berdo will be happening the 18th,19th, and 20th of sept. they get about 2300 cars there and have cruzin all day. that would be a good place for him to go.

Yeah, 10 speed handle bars, cheaper than a Desoto grille.

There were some scattered cars parked farther South past Burbank Blvd. Me and some friends ended up eating at Mel's on Ventura at around 10. There were a few cars from the cruise there.

Yeah i will be driving the Chevelle. we hang over in the 7B section (?) not sure of the name of the street but if you have a map of the cruz looking at it it would be the upper right corner before you hit 5th street. I am also hitting the poker run on sat its a blast. look me up if ya come to the show.

  9. I will be on the look out for you........

  10. I've been twice to the 66 in Berdoo, and it AIN'T "all that". Lots of cars, but mostly junk. And, nothin worse than a ton of uncorked stock motors making noise. V'rooomm pop pop. Guys, if it's stock, leave it corked up. So, you'll make Berdoo, but not Van Nuys? I'm confused:confused:

My friend you just didn't hang with the right people :) The after cruz party is also alot of fun.

  13. I'm still in agreement with Groucho. I think that we need to close the Rydell lot at 8pm. If it opens at 5 and closes at 8 that will give us 3 hours to organize and go cruise. Plus that will give Ried and his family time to go enjoy the party that they organized instead of baby sitting all you yahoo's in the Rydell lot. Plus if it closes later how many of you will be more incined to just go home instead of cruise. Which is why we started this again. To cruise, like we did back in the day. Not to park your happy ass in a parking lot and brag about your car and how BITCHIN' it is but we won't ever know 'CAUSE YOU WON'T CRUISE IT! makes no sense to me.

  14. I think only the main lot of the rydell should be used that will make more people hang at other places. less cars in the lot = more people on the streets

  15. I also think we should stop using the words "cruise night" that just makes people think of this parking lot full of cars

The accent is on definition. Yesterday, cruise night was the night you cruised.
Today, cruise night is the night you go to a local restaurant and hang out & eat.

Yesterday, Van Nuys Boulevard was not the only destination, but, part of a much larger cruise where car guys hit many hot spot locations.

It will take time to reseed the boulevard, but, cruising up and down the same boulevard all night gets boring pretty quick, especially if it's only a few blocks.

This is not like yesterdays version when people went down to Van Nuys spontainiously, cruising not just Van Nuys, but, all over the place. In the 50s, 60s and even the 70s, cruising was alive all over Southern California. Today, that is as dead as Van Nuys Blvd. was before you guys got this thing started again.

Thanks for thinking of us...however, unfortunately Rydell needs to move the used cars off the lot, and we do not officially get the lot until 6pm. People arriving early a screwing things up (like at 4:00) Mrs VNCruiser and Jesse arrive at 5:00 and we can't even get anymore crew
until around 6 because everyone is still at work. But what might work is to start cruising earlier like 7:00, that way if the lot is full, people can just
start cruising, and we can get a flow going from there. Plus it's getting dark earlier, and kids go back to school next month. But it would be nice
to spread the crowd into the local businesses, BUT NOT PARK A LAWN CHAIR IN FRONT OF RALPHS!!! I think the motto was EAT, CRUISE, PISS,
CRUISE, CRUISE, CRUISE, CRUISE, ETC.....AND PLEASE DONT BLOCK THE
AISLES, AND DRIVEWAYS or you will end up in our "hall of shame" section
on the website. Some people just don't listen no matter how many times
you ask them:( And why should they mess it up for everyone else:confused:

  20. I never cruised van nuys back in the day, i was born in 74. but i did cruise hollywood blvd, laurel canyon in san fernanado, state street in santa barbara(yes we would drive to santa barbara just to cruse state street) but we never called them cruise nights.

  21. "hall of shame"...I LOVE IT! Pictures of folks glued to a chair with a photoshopped Dildo next to them:D posted here. Hey Harry, I saw your picture on the HAMB last night........

Who was the big, fat, dickhead in the black Hummer that pulled in and was drunk off his ass and started words with my friend, Kenny, with the 1956 Porsche? He must be really tough talking like that and flipping off a Senior. What a douchebag!

He parked across the front of Kenny's car and was really close, and at the same time, was blocking one of the driveways where cruisers were entering and exiting the lot. There should be a "no-fly" list of these idiots. You couldn't miss this thing...had 24" Dubs on it and he had a shizzy attitude. Not a real cruiser, but a wannabe!
"Hey buddy, go out and get a muscle car and make up for your lack of balls!"
Reid had him move and he returned to the lot later...still drunk as a skunk.

  23. And, he was cranking some M. C. "Has-Been" bullshit

  24. he pulled into the ralphs lot and everybody looked at him like "what the fuck are you driving" i think he figured it out and left. ha ha ha ha

wow, 74 was when it really started crankin for me....think i started around 69 or 70. in 74 I was cruzin a van as we all thought they were cool back then. did have a licence till '72, but that didnt stop us then lol

the only thing i miss from the current blvd is the young teenage girls jumping in your car, lol.

im surpirsed its as organized now as it is, with all those people showin up, its actually quite a feat that most are pretty well mannered. excepting the mentioned hummer driver .

  28. I went to the first cruise night. While it was fun, and I intended to do it again, I’m having second thoughts. Already there are too many rules being shoved down our throats. “We want it to be just like it was.” WTF?? Just exactly how “was” it? I have read a lot of stories about peoples recollection of VNB. Some are true, some are patent BS. I recall one saying something about 2000 cars cruising the boulevard and often there were 100 times that many. Two hundred thousand cars?????? That was probably the entire population of the valley in the 60s. All these wheel stands, big ol’ fights and other tales of daring do are a bit much. Yes, there were wheelies and fights, just not every 5 minutes or so. So, according to the fables, shouldn’t we be duking it out and pulling wheelies so it can be just like it was. I know what the feelings are amongst some regarding the lawn chair group. So what. Who cares? How does their presence diminish you, your ride or your fun? Since they are not doing it right and having the correct kind of fun as prescribed by the rule makers, they and their gold chains, need to find another venue for their trailer queens. What’s next? A dress code? Maybe everyone has to wear an Isky or C-T Strokers shirt with a pack of Luckies rolled up in their sleeve. After all, that’s how it was done back in “the day”. I used to cruise the boulevard in the 60s with my friends. We weren’t racers or rodders, just kids having fun our way. There were some rods and muscle cars, but most of the cars were stockers, Dad’s car or old beaters that we bought from an ad in the Green Sheet for 25 bucks. There were races and there were some high end cars for sure. I saw them, but this glorified idea of how it was has been blown so far out of proportion that it has become a caricature. Go to the boulevard, cruise, park, race, lie, brag, whatever you enjoy and leave the other guy alone. Don’t impose your standards on everyone or the whole thing will implode and go away without the cops. Don’t be a Fun Nazi.

  29.
  30. Well, there needs to be SOME rules as the Rydell lot is a "privilege" that needs it's share of respect. As do Reid and his family.
