Any one have information on the torsion bar rear suspension used in the 'Triple Nickel' roadster? Thanks....
What would you like to know. I happen to be friends with the guy that owns it. Really neat old timer.
We want to know IS... if the torsion bar rear suspension was made or designed? was there a donor vehicle? How did it perform BTT
Let me see if I can get some. I do not think that the rear in it now is the same as what it had in the day. Give me a couple of days to get to the guy that owns it.
Vinniez: That would be great. I am wondering on the performance of the torsion bar rear suspension and the build spec's. Thanks, Neil....
Spoke with Dean yesterday and the car is on its way north so no photos right now. All sprint car rear suspension. Everything came out from under a sprint car. Does it work? I would think yes. It is way adjustiabel for one, You do not need to remove anything to adjust it, A lot of the old timers I have spoken with think torsion bars are the way to go. It is an open tube rear end and he is running 30 / 70 shocks on all 4 corners, Rear 70 down 30 up and the front 30 down 70 up.
I've collected everything you need (vintage sprint car) if you wish to go that route. Enough parts for all four corners of a hot rod. It's all steel....none of that aluminum stuff they run these days. Oh yeah....a lot of it is new other than the four torsion arms, some of the bars, and the LPS stops. There's even some chrome goodies.
Vinniez: Pictures at a later date would be awsome... Thanks for looking into the parts used... JohnnyFast: I'll send you a PM. Thanks, Neil.......
If that is the car I am thinking of with parallel rear bars and open axle Halibrand there was a cutaway drawing in HRM.
I'm thinking 52-53. I got a few of those out on loan. If you think that sounds about right I'll stop by tomorrow and look in them. The one I'm thinking of was in one of those.
